Wow don't her name but the talk about foster children in the state of Michigan was very well done by her. Patrick's got a hard act to follow.

@i_stay_puft: I thought it was overly long and a little sappy, but the ending was pretty good. Far better than the preceding speaker.

Well to be fair, a lot of these TedX talks are very "insightful" as well.

I know. As I replied to Pope, TEDx is sort of like an off-brand TED Talk. Maybe not store-brand cola quality, but you know. Still not an excuse for the behavior exhibited in the chat, though.

Yeah, this is really bad. Given the topic of Patrick's presentation, I'm hoping these Giant Bomb people trolling the chat end up getting taken to task during 'trick's talk. We should be better than this.

When someone's talking about their personal history of abuse in a public setting, a difficult thing to do, they should get a blanket exception from the word "faggot" from the onlookers. For fuck's sake.

Not likely, unfortunately. Giant Bomb has never exactly had the cleanest livestream chats. The moderators have done a good job, but even dating back to the Whiskey Media days, the Giant Bomb chats were far and away a horrible place compared to Screened, Tested, and Comic Vine. That members of the community went this way without threat or fear of the GB moderation team does not surprise me one bit.

Its TEDx which are more smaller gatherings. I believe the much larger and higher profile ones are the regular TED talks.

I'm a little glad to hear that 4chan is involved, just because the chat has been so bad. But that doesn't mean I'm glad that these peoples friends and families might have to see what's being said.

Well, knowing that it's 4chan in the chat makes it a little less terrible, but regardless, it's still pretty dumb.

I will say, however, that this whole conference DOES wreak of pretentiousness, but it's good to hear people finding life success in their own ways.

@jakob187: Sadly I have to mostly agree. The last guy wasn't too bad but I don't even know what the tea guy was getting at and the foster lady came off a bit too agenda-pushing to me.

I know that TEDx is more "edgy" than the regular TED talks. But...they really need to sort away some of the stuff they do - too much stuff would be better suited for some random YouTube channel than this. It waters out the quality that everything TED, should stand for.
