Anybody else think this is the best movie ever made?
welll maybe not the best, but its definitely my favorite. Anybody have thoughts on what happened? or if they dont understand what happened
im pretty sure ive got a good grasp on the shit that went down in that movie hahaha
Sooo Donnie Darko..
I really liked Donnie Darko. It was pretty weird and crazy, but I enjoyed the ambiguousness of it all.
The sequel, though, was probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
does anyone know any movies kinda like donnie darko , or one that you would recommend to a fan of the movie? i really dont know how to classify this movie hahaha
Pahahaha

" @Fbomb: i dont know if it was trying to be deep. i think it was just going for a weird complexity that i thought it pulled off. does anyone know any movies kinda like donnie darko , or one that you would recommend to a fan of the movie? i really dont know how to classify this movie hahaha "either. im up for anything kinda mindfucky if you know what i mean
The sequel sucked nads.
It's quite some time since I last saw the film. But I definitely remember it as one of my favorites, yes.
I like that it left you with the sense that it was greater than the sum of its parts. There are things about it you don't understand, that you think you should, but you will probably never really know. It leaves you with that sense of mystery that is quite endearing that sort of makes you always levitate back to it. Like a mystery unsolved.
I love Donnie Darko, but I think the Theatrical Version is much better than the Directors Cut. Directors Cut seemed too in your face with showing you pages of the book, I thought it was bad.
Watch the Theatrical Version with commentary by Richard Kelly and Jake Gyllenhaal, it's brilliant.
Edit: hmm I see a weird spin-off based on his sister that still hasn't made it to my region and reviewed poorly...no wonder I haven't heard of it!
One of my favorite films. I won't go into it because i'll be writing a wall of text, but I'll just say that the fact that everyone I know who's seen it has a different and very valid opinion on what happened is awesome.
I'v watched Donnie Darko prob a half dozen times, i really enjoyed it!
you gotta watch it at least twice to kinda wrap ur head around what the hell is happening, the first time is just kinda leaves you with a ""WTF?!?!"" feeling.
This is actually one of those movies i enjoy watching multiple times, and still do. Same with Fight Club, American History X and Trainspotting.
For some reason i just never get tired of watching these movies!
When I was younger I had a real hard love for this film.
Over the years though, as my tastes matured and I grew as a person, I realized Donnie Darko wasn't really a brilliant film, but a wonderful, chaotic train-wreck of ideas. It's like watching someone go on an LSD-induced stream of consciousness rant and by the end, even that person isn't sure what the hell he's talking about.
That said, it's still wonderful, it just doesn't have anything to say.
" @Synthballs: Why was Kevin Smith commentating on it? "Cause awesomeness needs more awesomeness. He kinda put stuff into perspective, going into the whole Earth A and Earth B stuff from DC comics.
He helps a lot.
