I was listening to National Public Radio and was fascinated by this story. A non-profit fan made prequel to the Lord of the Rings. Director Chris Bouchard with the help of other fans are set to release a high definition 40 minute movie called "The Hunt For Gollum" over the internet Sunday May 3. There's some backlash as to copyright laws, but everything seems a go for Sunday, so I guess we'll see.

That's very impressive for a fan-made flick. I even liked their vision for some of the characters more, though not having Mortensen play Strider/Aragorn is an unfortunate necessity. Nonetheless, the actors cast as the main ensemble seem to be really going for gold from what I can see.
"Only 40 minutes with no original actors? That bites."This is a low-budget production by a group that could be considered "semi-professional." Of course they don't have the resources to hire the original cast, nor would they be able to fund a full-length feature film only to release it for free on the internet.
"Meh, looks cheap. I say that as a fan of Tolkien's work."I've never read the books. I'm not a big fan of fiction, but I like movies... and from what I've read, it's more of a tribute to Peter Jackson's vision. I want to know the story they give it. It's set between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, supposedly from some appendages. I never read the Hobbit and only know his story through certain movies and such, but it fillls my small gap of cliff notes.

WOW THAT LOOKED FUCKING AWESOME!
Whoever made that trailer or HELPED make it, needs a job in making movie trailers.
Incredible that this was made by a low budget team.

It's not bad, but it does scream of more. I found it a nice appendage too the movies.
