I like anything that seems like effort and passion was put into it, not just some radio-friendly cash in crap. But after discovering Dream Theater I've definitely become a progressive snob. :P
- Dream Theater
- Iron Maiden
- Rush
- Queensryche
- Tool
- Led Zeppelin
- Megadeth
- Bruce Dickinson
- Old Metallica
- Pink Floyd
- Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, etc.

I am very specific about the music I like. A lot of people think that I have really weird taste in music.
Meshuggah (Though it is pretty good, I dont care much for obZen. Chaosphere is my favorite.)
Ripping Corpse (This is some underappreciated classic death metal)
Franz Ferdinand (Love their catchy beats)
White Stripes (Same as Franz)
Project 86 (Just got their new CD. Digging it.)
Talking Heads (Burning Down the House is an absolutely wonderful song.)
The Cars (Perhaps the first music I ever listened to constantly. Had a walkman and took it with me when my mom shopped. I thought I was so cool.)
Necrophagist (Some damn decent technical death metal)
White Zombie (I have no clue why, but I really started listening to his music this last semester. Kept me going though my projects.)
Frank Sinatra (His voice is great.)
The Ink Spots (I nearly flipped when I heard their song used for the Fallout 3 trailer.)
Mastodon (Sludge Metal)
Nile (Death Metal)
Joy Electric (I really love his CD "The Otherly Opus")
Maylene & The Sons of Disaster (I guess it is southern metal/metalcore, even though I typically hate metalcore.)
I don't listen to much rap, though I really do love "Illmatic" by Nas, and some stuff by Common. I have a love for trance music as well, but in all honesty, I can't remember many of the songs or artists. Basshunter is one that is more popular, though.
What do you guys think? Weird list?
Wow, I spent way too much time on this. -_-
60s and 70s music mostly. Beatles, Sabbath, Zepellin, Allman Brothers, all that kind of thing. I find in general more recent music puts too much emphasis on vocals and downplays the tasty riffs and jam solos which I so enjoy. I love to be proved wrong though.
Thrice, Sigur Ros, Gregor Samsa, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Bjork, Thursday, Brand New, Mono, Circa Survive, At the Drive-In, Radiohead, Sparta, Rise Against, Fightstar, The Mars Volta, Pink Floyd, Santana, Alexisonfire, Battles, Coheed & Cambria, Underoath, Miles Davis, Caspian, The Dear Hunter, Emiliana Torrini, Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, dredg, Fugazi, Deftones, Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, Low, Isis, John Coltrane, mewithoutYou, Okkervil River, Portishead, Goldfrapp, The Receiving End of Sirens, Arcade Fire, envy, Pelican, Autodrone, Mum, Sleepercar, Alter Bridge, Glassjaw, Saosin, Lydia, Charles Mingus, and lots of classical music.
And that's just for starters.
Not metal, country, rap or hip-hop, classic rock, most alternative, jazz.
I love Michael Jackson and Radiohead, and various electronic music (NOT Daft Punk)
I'm pretty open minded when it comes to music so I listen to quite a few genres.
Industrial, classical, jpop, techno, and metal to name a few.
You name it.... odds are I listen too it. But right now I'm listening to the old Alkaline Trio, and Godsmack.... CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW GODSMACK ALBUM!!!
