How come nobody is ever wrong on the internet?
Why is everyone on the internet right?
" Doesn't that also apply to life outside of the Internet as well? "Hell no, I am right.
The same reason everyone in real life is right. People are too stupid and stubborn to think outside of their ideas of what's right or wrong to even attempt contemplating if what they believe is right or wrong. They have been taught that what they believe is right and that anyone who says other wise is wrong. Myself included. It's just how people work.
BUT I HATE THIS.
When someone says something dumb and I show them the error of their ways, THEY MUST ADMIT DEFEAT!
No one ever admits defeat.

I know too many people who are dead set on what they believe, and pretend they listen to me.

I happily admit whenever I'm proven wrong. I also happily apologize whenever I believe I have made a mistake. Most people don't do that. You can probably backtrack through my forum posts and find a few admissions of error on my count. I always make a point of admitting I was wrong, too. Some people probably come close but they can never be bothered to hit the reply button.
Because I have PROOF. I have DONE THE THING. The person naysaying HAS NOT DONE THE THING." you're right, why? "
(this is regarding someone on Joystiq trying to tell me that OnLive doesn't run at 60fps when, in fact, it does -- AS MY ATI TRAY TOOLS FRAME COUNTER HAS PROVEN!)
" How come nobody is ever wrong on the internet? "Because no one likes being wrong.

In your OneLive example, it sounds as if the other person either doesn't experience 60FPS on their system and wants to push that point despite the fact that you're having a good experience with it, or (trying to neutral here) perhaps they see some latency that doesn't translate into their computer's FPS measurements (you could have a perfectly smooth 60FPS video play back, but if the controls feel out of sync with that, then that could create the illusion that it isn't 60FPS).
On the other hand, I do remember this other discussion about 60FPS. The poster was pretty adament that there should be this 60FPS concept page but didn't do anything about it other than complain that somebody should make the page because they thought it was a valid concept. There was some critique about the idea - people bouncing around ideas about the problems with the proposal and the solutions to fix them, but the poster was certain that it should just be made the way they envisioned it with no changes. With someone else eventually posting a modified version of the idea, its no surprise to me that people would be annoyed with people who complain about everyone else thinking that they're right, but then not having an open mind about other possibilities themselves.
I actually saw that lol. Lol you're right anyways. I don't even like OnLive but some stuff does stream at 60fps, at least sometimes. The person naysaying HAS NOT DONE THE THING. " @b33 said:Lol. That stuff happens to me in real life, as well. Some kid tried telling me that my car couldn't go 140 mph. When, in fact, I have gone that speed many-a-time. My speedometer isn't magical. Regardless of this, he refused to admit he was wrong, and just said my car couldn't go that fast. Who knew? Turns out I can't read numbers. What's the term for that again? Someone get Leigh Alexander.Because I have PROOF. I have DONE THE THING. The person naysaying HAS NOT DONE THE THING. I don't know why people on the internet are so dead set on not making even the slightest concession to their opponent's argument. It comes across as crass and stupid. I also don't know why everyone on the internet likes to pretend that they're an expert on every single subject and join in conversations even when they're woefully ignorant of the thing being discussed. I guess wikipedia is a strong self-esteem booster.
