Why is it Ok for black people to say the "n" word

 I never understood this. I watch MTV and the rap people and they say it constantly. It seems rather contradictory to hate the usage of that word and then use it casually yourself.

Also why do you people like rap? It just seems to be children rhymes with bad words and people created a bad fake image.

An African-American friend of mine told me his father basically explained that they started saying it as kind of a badge of honor to remember the hardships they've overcome. Whether or not that's the case or a story, I don't know. Kind of makes sense though.

If you could say the "N" word, how would you use it ? Do you just want to casually go around and just call people the "N" word ?  You can say the "N" word all you want right now but there just happen to be consequences now.  Get a time machine and go back to before the Civil Rights movement and say it all you want with immunity.  You honestly sicken me.
