Rebel Galaxy Custom Soundtracks

Have you guys tried out the custom soundtrack feature for Rebel Galaxy yet? Share what songs you chose for each category. I'd love to add some more to my soundtrack. Maybe we could make a Giant Bomb playlist. It's a Lockdown baby!

Example: Combat Music: Gold On The Ceiling by The Black Keys, Throw Away The Trash by The Aquabats, etc...

I spent about 45 minutes just making a custom soundtrack for my game. Then I realized the music sometimes switches pretty quickly so now I'm going to spend probably another hour or two just trimming the music to relevant parts.

Slayer - angel of death, for battles. That's it.

Edit - any retro wave would probably make great soundtrack music as well. Carpenter brut - division ruine, protector 101 - protect the innocent, etc

I stole Austin's idea of Cowboy Bebop's soundtrack. It's pretty awesome so far.

Firefly OST. But that was the obvious answer.

Man, I want this game. When I get it I'll probably use some retro wave for combat, Firefly OST for exploring and "Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1" for space stations.

Slotted in Journey of the Sorcerer because I'm a Hoopy Frood, which led me on a deep Eagles dive, across into some Boston and finished with a sprinkling of Bowie.

@naed_: what songs did you use ? ... tank of course for combat , but im intrested to know what people are going to use for everything else.

I just have this on loop 24/7.

So far been working alright.

What's the difference between the 'Idle' and 'Ambient' music paths? When does the 'Idle' stuff play?

@a_e_martin: Idle is actually the one that is going on just while your in space not doing anything it's ambient the one I'm not sure what it is. I set some 2pac for it and have yet to hear it this run. Just looked it up online and one of the devs posted on the steam forums.

On a serious music busniess note adding Bark at the Moon and The Trooper to the combat music has been amazing! I'm looking at all my 80's Metal as a goldmine for an RB soundtrack.

The Joker by Steve Miller Band has to be in there for Idle.

Raise your hands by Bon Jovi for idle. Gotta get that Spaceballs nod.

Comfiest ambient cruising music.

The Bastion soundtrack works really well. I also have some Alabama Shakes - Don't Wanna Fight mixed in with the fight music. It's pretty great.

7th Symphony - Apocalyptica is great regardless of which snippets it decides to play.

The Cowboy Bebop idea is genius.

Although I think adding in something like Metallica's 'Orion' for ambient and Pantera's 'Mouth for War' combat is a ton of fun.

Cowboy Bebop, I may buy this game just so I can do this.

I haven't had the chance to mess around with the soundtrack feature much, but I know for sure that I'm putting "Don't Fear The Reaper" By Blue Oyster Cult in the combat playlist, though I think it could work in idle now that I think about it...

I've been doing a mix of Cowboy Bebop and Battlestar Galactica (reboot). It has worked out rather well thus far.

There were three songs that jumped out at me, but definitely looking for more suggestions. I added:
"Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" by Cage the Elephant
"Dark Night" by The Blasters
"Loser" by Beck

Thinking of maybe "Going out West" by Tom Waits as well...

Hopefully i'll be able to add Percussion gun by the white rabbits. I just love the drum bit.

Also, do custom songs need to be .ogg? I can do that through Itunes I think but i hope i don't need to bother.

I've just been using Cowboy Bebop and the Firefly score..

I just have them all as idle music though, I've not changed up the combat music or anything at this point. I need to split them all into separate folders and sort things out this weekend.

Me and Austin were on the same wavelength. I put the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack in and never turned back. God damn is it cool.

Yea, itunes did the conversions easily enough. Should work now.

Does it let you just add to the songs that are already in it, or is it like a binary switch where you choose either custom or original? I wanted to do some custom stuff but I was worried about having to find enough songs or it'd get repetitive.

@bkbroiler: There is an option to include the normal music. It asks if you want to "Combine this music with the original soundtrack" on the screen you set the custom music paths

@doubleplusrad: That's awesome. Then I can just do some strategic strikes of music to include!

I think I'm gonna put in Portal 2's Four Part Plan into the combat music.

I found out that the Full Throttle soundtrack goes incredibly well with the game. Album is Bone to Pick by The Gone Jackals.

Anything from the Blade Runner soundtrack would work great

Pressure and Time by the Rivals Sons (as made famous by Ride to Hell) would be good too.

I also jumped in on Austin's Bebop usage, but added Trigun in as well so far. It kind of makes me wish the loop of the game was slower paced to fit in more of the songs, but that's obviously a massive change. Songs change a little too quick sometimes back and forth but it's a tremendously fun addition.

Went along with the obvious usage of Cowboy Bebop, but also threw the Bastion soundtrack in there which I find fitting as well.

I'd be surprised if nobody has used the cantina music for in station

I've added in the OST from Wing Commander: Privateer. It hits those nostalgia notes for me, as I used to play hours of that game in the 90s and Rebel Galaxy is pretty much the same game.

I've also added the FTL OST, Homeworld OST, and Dune II OST. Why not just stick in all of my favorite scifi/space games? I've been hoping to Find the Imperium Galactica 1 and/or 2 OST if anyone knows where to get it.
