My wife gave me $25 for Steam as a Valentine's Day present and I'm looking for some good game recommendations. I'm considering Sunless Sea or Darkest Dungeon but I'm open to any ideas.
Thanks!

Maybe, and this is just an idea here, you could find something that you two could enjoy together? Bet she'd really appreciate the thought, even if she doesn't like games!
@glennishill: Darkest Dungeon is one of my top two games of 2015 thus far. Really my only concern with it is that I'll get my fill of it/burn myself out on it before they actually add all of the features to it. That's the risk with Early Access, I guess.
Other than that, I feel like the season pass for Life Is Strange is an investment I feel pretty good about (that is the other game in my top 2 of 2015 so far). I really like the Twin Peaks/Freaks and Geeks/time travel thing they're going for, but I don't know how you feel about narrative-focused games with very minimal amount of game mechanics.
From last year, I think Binding of Isaac: Rebirth or Shovel Knight or The Banner Saga are all super good.

Oooh, oooh, may I reiterate Life Is Strange? I feel like maybe chicks can dig it, unless his girlfriend is one of those people where they can't take a story seriously if it purports to be real life but the script is even the slightest bit goofy or not perfectly representative of mundane, everyday life.
@bisonhero: yeahhh! I dont know much about that game, but sounds good! Even if you know she doesn't like games OP, bring it up, she'll love it.
Buy that new Crystal Maiden Arcana that comes with a frost puppy.
In all seriousness, the suggestions so far have been pretty good. Darkest Dungeon seems like a great time although I'm tempted to wait for full release so I avoid the aforementioned risk of early burnout. Life Is Strange might be something you can enjoy together. Or Nidhogg if you love being competitive. Those other three games @bisonhero mentioned are great shouts too.

I endorse this. Hoard onto the Arcana and the 2400 ability points and liquidate them to get even MORE money.
Then you my permission to buy Darkest Dungeon.
@glennishill: Get To The Moon.

If you're not sure, then there's no point in buying anything unless it's significantly discounted. There are discounts all the time.
OK, but if it's Valentine's Day gift money from your SO, you should probably spend it on an actual thing in the near future. It's not ideal to say "Don't worry, hun, I'm just gonna sit on it until July when all the good deals are." I dunno, maybe you could get away with that if she is also a lover of great deals, but I'd think she'd feel better if OP got something rather soon and she could see him enjoying it in the month of February.
@glennishill: Pre-order HomeWorld: Remastered coming out in about a week. Homeworld was one of the best games ever made.
Crusader Kings 2 is on sale right now.
This is a great recommendation.
Also going to say Darkest Dungeon, Sunless Sea, or Besieged.
Door Kickers is a sweet game on sale right now for $13 tons of content and still gets content updates. Invisible.Inc is a good early access game that is fixing to come out. Expeditions: Conquistador is an excellent RPG/Strategy game it is set in the era when Span conquered the Aztecs. Abyss Odyssey is a fun side scrolling dungeon crawler has good combat. If you have not played it FTL. Massive Chalice is a good game for fans of Xcom that is still in early access but is very close to done. Rise of Nations one of the best RTS games out there.
