"Historic Rare" IP returning to the XBOX ONE

This news might be exciting to some, because Phil Spencer just confirmed with Polygon that one of Rare's Franchises will be at E3 for the XBOX ONE. Here's the link if you want proof!

Anyways, wonder which game they are going to reveal? Maybe after Microsoft and FOX agreed that Microsoft can own the Killer Instinct trademark, we'll see the return of Killer Instinct! Maybe its Banjo, but I'm not sure. We'll definitely not see Nuts and Bolts 2 because while the original game is suppose to be super fun, it sold poorly because it angered fans for not being a platformer. Banjo-Threeie seems more likely if Rare wants Banjo to sell. Conker might be too controversial to have as a window launch title, so maybe not. Kameo and Viva Pinata are disqualified because those IP's don't seem old enough to be considered "historic". Perfect Dark might return again, but Microsoft might emphasize COD Ghosts as its "shooter" at launch and wait on Perfect Dark.

What do you guys think which Rare IP will return for the XBOX ONE?

I'd love it if they considered kinect sports a historic rare ip.

I hope it isn't some fighting game. Would be hilarious if it was a new Perfect Dark again. Just about anything Banjo would be great to see. I don't see Conkers coming back.

Will probably be some mess of a kinect heavy banjo or kill instinct thing.

I can see some terrible looking kinect only Killer Instinct thing.

Will Rare be developing it though? Like, all of a sudden they got them out of that damp, unlit basement where they make DLC content to bring back a "historic IP"? That would be really awesome, if that were the case. Not sure how many people from the company's heyday are still there though.

It's gotta be Banjo. Nuts and Bolts, aside from anything else, was an absolutely gorgeous game. If they want to show the power of their new console, that would be the title I'd pick to demonstrate its versatility.

Nuts And Bolts isn't a "historic Rare IP" but anything to get Rare from doing more Kinect drek is a good thing.

The 'historic' comment is kinda vague and doesn't necessarily refer to what will be shown at E3. I read it as 'yeah they've got a bunch of good stuff we could dip into at some point if we wanted to'.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nuts & Bolts 2 at E3. It'd make a fantastic launch title, and could pretty easily be ruined integrated with Kinect features if they wanted to.

I know Perfect Dark Zero kind of debut with a whimper but I still really like the first Perfect Dark damn it! A proper Perfect Dark 2 would be cool.

There was a Conker game on the original Xbox. Maybe they're going to do that?

I think it has to be Banjo, or at least I want it to be! :)

Another Perfect Dark, because of course MS would make Rare do a FPS.

Perfect Dark, Banjo or Viva Pinata. I'm gonna say the latter two are more likely as they are both more appealing to a wide audience.

The only reason I would ever want an Xbox One would be a new Viva Pinata, Conker, or Killer Instinct.

I'm going with killer instinct. Fighting games are super popular plus there was that whole licensing thing a while back.

I have fond memories of the GB version of Killer Instinct (probably heavily tinted by nostalgia, though), so I'm totally fine with a reboot or sequel.

If it were a proper Banjo game, I'd probably consider getting the console.

A new Conker game would be cool. Probably won't be that though.

I think its interesting to note that every year since 2006 there has been either a Gears or Halo game released, if you count ODST. Now with Halo 5 unlikely to be ready and with the uncertainty around Gears, maybe Microsoft will fill the big exclusive autumn shooter gap with an new perfect dark. Though a (possibly Kinect based) Banjo game that would appeal to a family audience would make sense too.

Plot twist: Microsoft buys Nintendo and Rare makes a new Donkey Kong Country.

Now realistically i think it will be Perfect Dark. Microsoft can't have 15 exclusives in the works without having a bunch of them be shooters. They aren't that creative.

Anyway a well made Perfect Dark can be one of the more creative shooters out there so it would be pretty great.

It's either that Jetpack thing or the other thing with the "old guy from Tarzan" guy.

It's probably going to be a Kinect-augmented game. I wonder if it's going to actually be Killer Instinct but it turns out to actually be a Kinect game, people are going to be BUMMED out.

Yeah! Or maybe even older, like Jetpac. I just hope they make a good game. None of this Kinect bullshit. Maybe there is hope.. maybe.

If it is Banjo then I might consider getting the console. They've already shown that Forza 5 will be proper Forza and not that Horizon nonsense so they have won me over a bit.

I'm not necessarily giving up I'm just speculating in regards to what Rare has done and what MS would probably would want them to do. Also I should also clarify that even though IMO there will be people who are going to be bummed if it turns out to be a Kinect game, who knows it might turn out to be really great with the upgraded Kinect technology, right?

Forza Horizon was a lot of fun, sir. It may have been not a Motorsport game, but it wasn't horrible at the slightest. Besides would you have wanted Forza 5 A YEAR AFTER Forza 4 was just released? Now I would find that even more ludicrous (like the annual COD releases). :(

@gaspower: Aye it is very likely it will have a fair amount of kinect functionality. Rev3 had a pretty good video showing off the new kinect and it looked far more functional than before.

Oh and Horizon is great but I'd expect another Horizon or some other spin off next year which I'd be pretty happy with.

Killer Instinct has been teased and rumored for so damn long...it HAS to be that. Only other thing could be a new Banjo game, but I'd put my money on Killer Instinct.

It's going to be Battletoads with this in dubstep by Skrillex.

Its gonna have alot to do with Kinect, that much is certain.

A good Perfect Dark would actually be a console seller for me.

They could bring about the greatest Killer Instinct game ever, a new Banjo-Kazooie, a new Viva Pinata, and a new Kameo within the same month.

I still won't buy an Xbox One. Fuck that.

In any event, I don't think I'm going to suddenly buy XBox One because of a new Rare game though. Sorry but they lost my respect and attention long ago where this "Historic Rare IP" needs to be something astounding to make me take a look.
