Andrew Ryan is the founder of Rapture, the undersea Utopia that is the setting for BioShock. His name is a partial anagram of Ayn Rand, author of the novel Atlas Shrugged, which served as the main inspiration for Ryan's philosophies and aspects of BioShock's story.
The cunning, intelligent, and ruthless arch-enemy of Andrew Ryan, and the leader of the opposition in the power struggle which led to Rapture's collapse.
Dr. Brigid Tenenbaum is a German genetic scientist who helped originally develop ADAM. She is one of the main characters that you come in contact with in Bioshock.
Once the lover of Andrew Ryan in the game Bioshock, Diane McClintock is one of the few sympathetic characters found in the underwater dystopia of Rapture.
Dr. Steinman is a high-profile cosmetic surgeon in Rapture, obsessed with physically altering women into more "perfect" forms. His deepening madness compels him to perform increasingly drastic surgeries against patients' wills, citing Picasso as an inspiration.
Jack is the silent player character in BioShock. After surviving a plane crash in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, he stumbles upon the underwater metropolis of Rapture.
Sullivan was Andrew Ryan's right hand man and security chief of Rapture. He did Ryan's dirty work, such as murdering Anna Culpepper.
