If you like Halo 3 you will like this

Having thoroughly enjoyed the previous Halo games I was looking forward to ODST. Especially since it seems I am one of the few that had fun with the single player in all the previous games. The single player is a bit shorter than any of the previous games, but it is by no means too short for a full game. The story telling method is totally new to the series. It works with the main character being in an over world and finding points to initiate flash back stories. The last piece of the story is played out via audio logs that are found scattered about the over world (except for the last one). It is too bad you have to find these since they are really well done. When I watched the audio logs they immediately reminded me of the pre-release shorts put out for Dead Space. If this game needed hype I think the audio logs could have been released the same way to build up the story for ODST.
The game also includes a new co-op multiplayer mode called Firefight. I call it co-op because it has no matchmaking and is totally separate from the other multiplayer mode. The last mode is a second disc of the entire Halo 3 multiplayer experience, including all previously released maps. If you haven’t bought any of the maps then this is a good deal, if you have well you may feel a bit ripped off.
As my score says I would recommend this game to any FPS fan and especially Halo fans. As a standalone game I think it is worth it as well.

Right off the bat, let's get one thing straight here. Halo 3: ODST is a Halo game-- more specifically, Halo 3 with some slight tweaks. The core gameplay is all still here, just as strong as it's always been. If you've never been a fan of Halo's style of gameplay however, ODST is not going to change your mind. Some periphery elements have been changed, but at the core there is little different in ODST that will attract new players. That fact might seem elementary, but it's important to remember;...

Sometimes low expectations are a really good thing.. 0

I´ve played through all of the Halo games at least once and I enjoy them as shooters. But I´m not a huge fan of the universe and I don´t think I´ve played the multiplayer even once. I´ve always managed to get caught up in the hype machine for each game but this time I was kind of unaffected by it. I still decided to pick ODST up and boy did I benefit from my low expectations. I went in expecting an ok expansion for Halo 3 but before the campaign was over I ended up feeling like this is my favori...
