Overview

In October 2011 Sega and Arkedo issued a press release announcing the game under the title "Project Hell Yeah!", and that it had been in development for nine months already. Little else was specified about the game, but Arkedo are running a blog that reveals more information about the game as it is made.

On February 29th 2012, a video was released with Arkedo Studio head Camille Guermonprez explaining the game's premise: a rabbit named Ash, who is the prince of Hell, is spending some "quality time" with his rubber ducky, when "some jerk took photos of him and put them on the Hell-ternet. As you know, once they're on there, the only way to prevent everyone from seeing them is to kill everyone. That's the story, you just kill everyone, it's the only way."

Hell Yeah! features 10 worlds with over 100 enemies to defeat. The game also features 30 minigames, sidequests, secret areas and collectible objects weapons and monsters.

The PC version was announced on July 14th 2012 and will be released on Steam supporting Cloud save and Steam Achievements. The controls have been redesigned for use with keyboard & mouse but will also support an Xbox 360 controller. The user is able to hot-swap during gameplay between a controller and the keyboard/mouse.

Story

After the death of the previous king of Hell, skeleton rabbit Prince of Hell, Ash, takes over. But after he does, nude photos of him playing in the bath pop up online and 100 monsters saw it. Now Ash must KILL all of those monsters and prove that himself a fearsome leader. He has to travel Hades and take out all that stand in his way.

Gameplay

Hell Yeah is an action platformer that could been seen as a sort of metroidvania, in that there is some travelling back and forth across each level. Ash moves around using a circular saw/jet pack. There are also projectile weapons, rocket launchers, flamethrowers, and machine guns as well. When taking down the 100 monsters, just before killing them a Warioware-style minigame pops up where the player has to quickly pump up a balloon, or pull back an arrow. When done successfully is triggers the over-the-top death scene for that monster.
