I Heart Shift is an Xbox Live Indie Game developed solely by Giant Bomb user Keir Miron (Fronominal).
I made an Xbox Live Indie Game!
So it's possible for random people to put their own games on the market? Interesting. Or it would be if I knew dick about making video games.
Yes you have to develop using Microsoft development kit XNA. You have to pay a membership to get it running on an xbox. You submit for marketplace and the community passes or fails it for bugs and other things.
" @JJWeatherman: Much love you will not be disapointed. I could tell by your rich pic that you have good taste. "lol, yeah for sure.
Thank you all for checking it out. Working with Microsoft is fine its the community that can be a little slow and frustrating. It is a free review and play test program after the creators club membership so i can't hate.
You guys are very nice with your feedback. I am also on the "other" sites and people are not as kind and embracing.
If you keep in mind this is made entierly by a graduate in 3 months. I think it is a hell of a game for a dollar.
I have an idea for the game. I know it would make an incredibly badass game. I just don't know shit about developing with XNA. If I did, I would make the game. Instead, I'm going to wait for my buddy to finish college for video game development, then we're going to start working on the game...and eventually it will lead to world domination.
In the meantime, I'll DL the demo and check it out. Liking what I'm seeing so far. = D
Ya the xna community is pretty quick to help other developers. Also there is a bunch of starter kits to make games really quickly.
" Ya the xna community is pretty quick to help other developers. Also there is a bunch of starter kits to make games really quickly. "Yeah, but I think my game would be a little bit more involving than what XNA can handle. It'd be 2D side-scrolling platform/action/puzzle.
Xna is slower than using a straight from the ground c++ engine. If you youtube xna you can see alot of tech demos showing what it can do. That said it is alot safer and you can bring out the game on the xbox 360 without getting a publisher or dev kit.
Kudos, Fronominal. Pretty clever game. I just finished playing the trial and will definitely purchase it next time I have some extra points. Were you inspired by the game "Groov" at all? I felt some similarities in menus and musical elements of the game.
Fusing twin stick and puzzle is a really great idea. I guess the only problem I had was when I was playing the 3rd stage on the trial, the beat speeds up at one point and starts to play different musical notes more frequently. Is there a reason for the different notes? Does each note correspond with a tile color? I wasn't really sure. The chaotic string of notes definitely ramped up the intensity, but at the same time, it was a little bit ear piercing and random.
Good work! Looking forward to playing more of it.
Bumping an old thread, I know, but this is the game shown in the GB Mailbag: Pakistani Pop-Top Edition, correct?
