So the new Tomb Raider just came out, which copied Uncharted, which copied Tomb Raider. They both however ripped off Indiana Jones. Would a game staring Indy which is a clone, a good one, of Tomb Raider/Uncharted work? Probably with less climbing. I know there have been Indiana Jones 3rd person action games out before (3) but they were made before Uncharted 2 was a thing. Can we bring the rip off train full circle?
Indiana Jones
Character » appears in 30 games
Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. is a legendary archaeologist and adventurer, known for recovering long lost artifacts and preventing their power from falling into the wrong hands. Jones is as skilled with a bullwhip as with his fists or a pistol, but is hampered slightly by a crippling fear of snakes.
Should LucasArts make a Indy game like Tomb Raider/Uncharted
That'd be great. Should it happen, yes. Will it? Not likely. After the Disney purchase, I really have no idea what's happening with Lucas Arts.

@mcghee: I am sure they would find a good use for it. Traversal and some combat mechanics.
@luciddreams117: Ya I have no idea what is up with them these days.
@nictel: Well Star Wars 1313 seems to be a rated M game.
Star Wars 1313 was revealed prior to the buy out and hasn't been seen since so that doesn't indicate much good will towards that sort of thing.
I'd love for a new Indiana Jones game, the one they made last gen seemed ok. Shame they shelved the current gen game they were working on.
I don't see Lucas Arts doing anything significant at any point in the near future.
@blu3v3nom07: Didn't that turn into a Wii game? Staff of Kings?
not lucasarts. give those dudes that made Miasmata a budget and a team with great fundamentals- THEN you'll get an interesting survival game.
@daveyo520: I remember that. Hmm. ~ I just remember it was a RAGE engine demo for a while. I remember watching an almost silent fight scene, that looked like Indy fighting, and running away at the same time.
I think there's room for revival for this time type of stuff, now that Next-gen is coming soon though.
I think it would be ok, there hasn't really been that many Uncharted clones and Tomb Raider is probably the closest anyone has gotten. There would have to be far less of a focus on guns though. Tomb Raider and Uncharted 3 both feel excessively shooty at points.
Too much shooting in both those games. Uncharted is closer to Indy, with all the wise-cracking and huge spectacle, so that seems the road to follow. Just use the whip instead of so many bullets I guess.
@penguindust: Who? I have never heard that name in my life. Ever you hear me? Ever!
It's kinda been done before. First by Tomb Raider, and then by Uncharted.
And besides, learning about an environment and then using what you've learned to solve a puzzle, gather a treasure, and avoid dangers has been a staple of the video game dungeon since... well, the first video game dungeon. If you want that sort of adventure feeling, it exists.
@believer258: Well ya of course it exists. I did not say it wouldn't be a clone of a million other games.
Uncharted and Tomb Raider may have ripped off Indiana Jones, but Indiana Jones was just an amalgamation of pulp adventure archetypes to begin with. So in my personal opinion there's nothing particularly special about that character other than the fact that Harrison Ford is pretty cool. I just don't see the point.
I don't think it would really be bringing anything new to the table. Maybe if it made itself a cross between God of War and Uncharted with plenty of whip action I could see it working.
They already did: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Jones_and_the_Emperor's_Tomb
