It seems like she mumbles every other word. Does she get better later on?

I can not understand anything lucy kuo says
She has a pretty distinctive lisp going on. I'm playing with subtitles on so it doesn't bother me that much.
When you did the good thing at the beginning of the game and she was talking about the militia and how you didn't murder a village to kill them that was the funniest piece of voice acting in the game.
This is the only video I could find.

@SethPhotopoulos: Holy shit is that real? I never noticed it playing through but fuck it sounds like she is drowning or something.
People with lisps should not be VA's. The sound in general is kind of bad, probably because the credits list literally two sound guys.
That said, I liked their approach to VA in general in this game. People mumble sometimes! It takes me out of the game when lines of dialogue are too sterile and exact.

I never had a single problem understanding what she said... in fact I'm totally perplexed by the fact that anyone did. Her speech never struck me as being unclear at all.
This really.

If people can't understand you, they're probably missing out on something. Diction is one of the most important things for a VO-talent.

There's another thing if they can sound conversational, that takes skill.
Huh, I never had any problem understanding her. Now that you mention it though, I do notice she does tend to mumble some words.
I feel the complete opposite. She got worse after her powers. Prior to her powers, she spoke clear as day, then the ice must've given her mouth a one-two punch. She got better after she got her powers

*Snicker* Oh Man, that is just...wow whoever was listening in on that session must have had a good laugh to themselves.
@Rahf: Yeah, but I think the point is that it feels strange when no one EVER slips up, mumbles, fumbles, or jumbles their language in games except in choreographed, usually for humor, situations. Some people are just hard as fuck to understand. GTA IV anyone?
Her lisp comes out every now and then but not to the point where I can't understand her or find it particularly annoying.
Nix, however, is terrible. Would it really have been that hard to find someone from Louisiana/N.O. to provide maybe even a tiny hint of a realistic accent? It's not even just the actress though, her lines themselves are often lame as hell.
She's a bit of a mumbler, but as for finding her difficult to understand... I had no trouble whatsoever. She is clear enough in what she is saying, as are all the characters.
I iked her voice. I just wish that there was more with, she seemed to pop up only here and there to help in side missions. It woulda been cool to be able to play as her or Nix as an unlockable or something!
I had no issues understanding anyone in this game, and English isn't even my first language. I actually thought the VA for Kuo did a pretty great job - her delivery felt realistic and natural.
i have no problem understanding her, nix on the other hand i do not believe is actually speaking words of any language

Not only did I not have a problem hearing anything she said, upon viewing that clip I cannot for the life of me remember her ever sounding that bad.
I never had trouble understanding Kuo or any of the other characters but then again I play with subtitles on so I can read and listen.
I understood her fine, but that was a pretty bad lisp-ish thing and sounded pretty bad in general.@xobballox said:
