    Overview

Kessen II is the second game in Koei's Kessen series for the PS2.  It was released on September 26, 2001.  The game is a real-time strategy title that allows the player to directly control individual units while providing orders to allies.

    Plot

Kessen II is the only Kessen title not set during Japan's Warring States era.  Rather, it is set during the Three Kingdoms era of China, in which the nations of Wei, Wu, and Shu fought for control of the whole land.  The game takes characters and events from the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms and loosely adapts them into an original narrative that focuses on the conflict between Liu Bei, ruler of Shu, and Cao Cao, ruler of Wei, over the fate of the beautiful Diao Chan.  As in the other entries, the game's plot is presented with romantic theatricality rather than historical accuracy.
