Take the fight to the Helghast in this first person shooter from Guerrilla Games.
Killzone 2 Storms Television, Interactive Ad On The Way
Did I hear someone say "MOOOOOOOOMMMM, get me that game!!!!!!!!!"?
That's pretty awesome though. I've preordered, which is kinda rare for me, but I played the demo and it's awesome! I wanna cry!
Sweet but could have been better. It would have been dope salad if they showed a whole firefight in slow motion set to opera in the background, then as the last shell casing hits the ground in slow mo and the music fades out ...Killzone 2
Killzone 2 deserves all the ad minutes it can get, this game should be in the hands of every person who enjoy playing quality games and for those who interested in getting into video games. and the ad: EPIC!!!!!
but i prefer them using something like "ENTER THE KILLZONE" instead of "War Perfected", but other than that, it was awesome.
"not entirely in-game because I doubt you shoot high polygon bullets that have a higher resolution texture than a Helghast soldier
that, or at least they made a custom bullet model in game just for this ad.
"
"in game" and "in game engine" are two different things.
This better be promote extremely hard......the commercial pretty cool, its better than the Gears Of War's commercial which made no sense lol
"War Perfected is kinda stupid but the concept of the ad is great"
You don't think the whole "War Perfected" is a nod towards Halo's "Combat Evolved" as if to say "we're better"?
In-engine is an entirely different thing than in-game. There are more than a few liberties taken here to make it look far better than it would in the actual game, I'm not knocking the game...it looks great, but we aren't at a point yet where half that stuff is possible. The bullet is obviously not what it would look like in game, the shell exploding off of it is also very unlikely and unnecessary as you would probably never be able to notice such a thing. The characters and explosions are all obviously moving on a script...but that really goes without saying.
Still I noticed only three weak spots, the character's eye when very close at the very begining doesn't look that great, the water in the puddle looks very fake(which is odd I've seen some real great water effects lately strange they aren't there), and the Helghast sabatuer's cloak near the end seemed low res.
i think killzone needs a drink and a ridiculous limited edition copy (novelty helghast helmet anyone?),
@Defunctfrenzy
Exactly. I would imagine it is somewhat tongue-in-cheek. I though it rather clever.
I just read about this on Kotaku, and I'm really impressed. I don't feel it captures an "epic" scope like that footage, but it's still a brilliant advert for the power of PS3, and hell, how far consoles have come in less than ten years.
But people keep mentioning this "Oh, it's more classy, it has no heavy metal or anything" shit. And? I can't remember the last time a good shooter advertised that way. Hell, we had that weird/awesome Gears ad last Chrimbo. Certainly not RAWK.
Too short. I doubt the mainstream audience is won over by pretty graphics in commercials at all. Considering 99.9% of game commercials are CGI or live action. I doubt most people know the difference between in engine and CGI.
Awesome, & I don't use that word lightly. FYI England don't allow games ads to imply that prerendered footage is in game/engine, so it might have been for that. Lulz if they still can't use this for some reason.
i think it looks pretty good, just a good looking game, but not impactful. just doesnt give you a sense of how amazing the game is to play, just look at. Plus, I dont like the whole War. Perfected. thing, that makes me think they are trying to cater to the people who were taken in by Halo: Combat Evloved.
For the love of god why didnt they show gameplay? The only reason most of us are buying this game is because the graphics in first person are stunning. This commercial will make the layman think its another CG adaptation of the real action. Sillyness i tells ya!
There's a different shorter ad airing in the UK at the moment.
And yeah, seems some people still don't know the difference between in-game, and in-engine.
Regardless of that fact, the trailer looks amazing, though it's clear it's in-engine when those pillars start to dust up. It will be interesting to see when controling the camera.
