    It's a great game though.

See what I did there with my opinion on the quality.

Although it is a really good game.
But one that is a completely different style to HL, and iI'm sure it's probably a different team.
You're basing it on the complete wrong game, because it says valve on the box, doesn't mean it's the same people.

The people who made L4D2 are old Turtle Rock guys, who were responsible for the first one, and were bought out by Valve this year, with maybe a few other Valve guys on hand. The development of Episode 3 is handled by an almost completely seperate team. L4D2 will have no bearing on Episode 3. I wholeheartedly suggest you do just a little research before you create such dumbass threads.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Episode 2 came out in 2007 so I'm sure Valve has had a team working on it for a while now.

The guys who made L4D2 and guys who make Half-Life are completely different teams. I have gotten the chance to play L4D2 yet, but I'm sure Episode 3 will be awesome when it comes out in 2020.

I think L4D2 lacks the famous valve polish to be honest. They did only make it in a year.

Ep 3 is going to be Valve's final Half Life 2 episode, and it's going to be their masterpiece, their HL2 swan song, their pièce de résistance, and they're going to spend a tonne of time developing it, making it perfect in every way. You have nothing to worry about.

L4D2 is an extremely high quality release IMO. I have no idea what you're talking about.

Sure, it's running on an older engine, but source still looks impressive, especially with a decent PC running it on full blast.

What are you commenting on then? The gameplay is fantastic. The characters are more interesting and the additional modes of play are really fun too.

I almost positive that they're working on a new engine for episode 3, even if it is just a heavily modified version of Source. The time it would have taken to put out ep3 on the current Source engine would not have taken over 2 years, regardless of length.

That said, I still trust valve enough to let them do their thing. Whatever it is that's taking so long, it will be worth it in the end.

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 hasn't even been announced yet.  There is no way to pass judgement on it at all and Left 4 Dead 2 is a quality product.

I thought the whole point of the episodic format was to get new content out faster (that's what Valve said, anyway). Why is it that their development time is almost just as long as it takes to make a whole knew game?

I doubt it. Valve is small, most of the TF2 team was working on L4D2, thus why there is a lack of updates for TF2.

I'm sure Episode 3 will be amazing because Valve have been developing it for a while now (Ep 2 came out in 2007) and when you think Valve has been working on something for too long it usually turn out amazing. Remember Half-Life 2? That took many more years to make then you would think it would but then it turned out to be one of the greatest games of all time.

Also L4D2 is a great game so I don't know what you're talking about.

what you should be more worried about is the amount of time they are taking making/not making the game. There's been two bioshocks, two mass effects, two uncharteds, two assassins creeds, two modern warfares, 5,000 guitar heroes... in that same amount of time. If it's just another "2 hour expansion pack" I dont know about you but I'll be disappointed at least.

It'll be 3 hours long and have the worst ending ever.  =  /  Sorry, I'm trying to keep your expectations in check, sir.  I mean, seriously, the only other things that took 10 years to develop were Duke Nukem Forever and Too Human.  We know how THOSE turned out...

Anyways, as for L4D2...I don't understand what the OP's original comment was.  Flamebait against L4D2?  That game is pretty damn excellent, and I don't understand how it's lacking that "Valve polish".

This guy obviously isn't very good at making topic's, I mean he basicly say's the whole of the topic in the title and leaves it at that. Basicly...

Plus, due to the fact he only does a sentance in his starting post, and then dosn't go any further into detail about why he think's L4D2 is crap, and how this leads him to thinking that this means HL: Episode 3 won't be very good because of it.

Apart from this, dosn't it seem a bit strange that HL2 and L4D2 are completely different in terms of universes and contexts that he compares the two games at all. THEY'RE DIFFERENT GAMES, MADE BY DIFFERENT TEAMS. So his question and this topic is pretty much moot.

@AnimalFather:  To finish off. Please. Next time you make a post, can you take a few second's and think about what you're typing?

    That'd be great... :-p
