Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Jun 12, 2012
Embargoed reviews, and a release date the Tuesday after E3, is not a confident mixture. Remember, Duke Nukem Forever did the exact same thing last year.
@DrDarkStryfe: Yeah, but in that case, Duke Nukem had history behind it, and it was in their best interest to get sales off of the name before it came out that the game was garbage. In this case, Lollipop Chainsaw isn't exactly a storied franchise, so they don't really stand much to gain from holding back reviews, and releasing post E3.

Embargo is midnight tonight so big sites won't have them up until then.It is dumb. Game has already leaked all over the internets. If I want to hear early opinions I have to get them from a spotty bedroom pirate rather than a trusted big media outlet. PR might want to consider that they are doing more harm than good.
did you expect anything else from a game about an overly sexualized teenager with a chainsaw? what are you looking for? are you looking for a hidden gem that changes the way games are made with a riveting story? give me a break. this game is a rental at the most, and that is being generous.
Comment is in regarding embargoes in general - as apposed to this specific game.

Some people buy what's popular in their friend group or what is recommended personally to them. Others read reviews from media outlets. The second group isn't swayed by "spotty bedroom pirates".
Yup. Those two categories cover everyone.

Ok, let me rephrase; show me a single review written like that which isn't clearly satirically commenting on the same phenomenon you are.

4 hours long apparently. Might want to hold off paying full price on this one.
If that turns out to be true, then fuck it.

I got the game for twenty bucks off of Amazon. It's a Suda game and it has references to Kore ha Zombie Desuka? and High school of the Dead. I'm going to love it
Wait, there are more references to those things besides the costumes?

i think i'll wait until tomorrow to pass judgement instead of basing it on reviews from sources that i can't really call credible
Nothing about that sentence made any sense, but it's pretty much the best thing I've ever read too.

In the Japanese version at least
I hope this game does well, but I think it's going to get raked over the coals when the big offiical reviews come out, due to people's inability to seperate the game from its marketing. Everything about the way this game is being sold thus far feels gross, and it feels like they're spending more time building up that pseudo-image rather than telling people what the game actually is. Sega was doing the same thing with Bayonetta for a while but that game was just stellar and the sexuality wasn't nearly as trumped up as the marketing made it out to be, so it survived the very thing that's supposed to draw people in.
But this game needs a quicklook like whoa, because I've seen this game 3 times in person and still don't know what it's supposed to be.

@alternate: If its 4 hours long that just means its easily repayable. There is even a Perma-death mode difficulty mode in the game which should be fun to try. Who cares? Shadows of the Damned was insanely short too. I replayed that thing 4 times and got every achievement.
Shadow of the Damned was nowhere as short if my memory serves me correctly. I remember it being at least 8-10 hours long.

Yeah, I'm always surprised when people say SOTD was short. If anything, the major complaint people had was that it's about 2 hours too long.

I would run for mayor in this village...
From what I've seen of this game, I don't even think sudas charm will save it. Course we will have to wait and see but that's my thought

gamefaqs forum, some kids who bought it early - yeah right, but they ban you if you admit to being a pirate.
Also, from all accounts this is no bayonetta. I am reserving judgement, I just suggested being cautious if funds are tight.

If you knew exactly what you were doing and didn't fiddle around SotD was beatable in 4 hours or under easily.
Theres a guy on neogaf who beat it in 4.5. Jim Sterling from Destructoid beat it between Friday and Saturday at noonish without playing constantly.@ImmortalSaiyan said:

@alternate: Its entirely possible they did get a early copy. Mom & Pop shops sell games early all the time.
I am sure it happens but if everyone who claimed to have got it that way was telling the truth then the big chain retailers would be in revolt. Usually the posts claiming they have it pop up en masse a few hours after the leak hits the torrent sites.

Well if you look at it that way, the duritation of most games would decrease drastically.
Destructoid - 9/10
GamesRadar - 6/10
"This is, without a doubt, the stupidest game I have ever played.
I also think I am in love with it." - Jim Sterling.
9/10. Here's the review.
@three02: Too slow.
Gaming Age: A-
And Amazon has dropped the price back down to $45.00.

Haha I don't understand. Having integrity keeps journalists from giving honest reviews? We can only trust those with no integrity. And user reviews are too often either 1 star or 5 stars.. because being a fan of something is more important than honestly accessing a game when integrity isn't in the equation.
