I bought the game today and played it for 5 hours and I fucking love it.
I can't wait to keep playing it, the controls are not janky at all and the game is not an 8th as hard as everyone says.
This is demon's souls al over again.

EDIT: all reviewers not just brad

#2 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19382 posts) -

So, a reviewer who has a different opinion than you is wrong?

#3 Posted by Milkman (17308 posts) -

You have a different opinion. This has been known to happen. If you enjoy the game, then just enjoy it. Why does it matter what reviewers are saying?

#4 Posted by trophyhunter (5800 posts) -

I'm just saying it pretty underrated

Is this thread the sequel to the thread "Brads Lost Planet 2 review was...bad"?

Glad to hear you are enjoying it, but prepare yourself for the onslaught of hate, with a side serving of some love.

I give this thread a 2 out of 5.  It's lost the originality delivered by the first one, and has next to no sticking points that makes the user want to read more.

Hell the AI is not even that bad they beat to a data post a few times.
#11 Posted by phantomzxro (1583 posts) -

well i think this is a RE5 thing all over again, to some this game will be great it all depends on how you play it. I would say anyone who enjoyed the single player of the first game might not like this one. Or on the flip side if your into coop story modes this may be the game for you. But i still think it is a flawed game and not for me but to each his own.

You're only five hours in. Finish the game and then we'll talk.

Since most reviews get the game before release, the servers are not live (or not populated)... so no online co-op. So if you want to test out the online, you are limited to playing with developers in controlled circumstances. And most of the reviewers have  noted that it takes some gameplay quirks from Monster Hunter so the know how to play it... it's basically Monster Hunter with guns.

@trophyhunter: My thoughts exactly.

I thought the first game and Lost Planet 2's demo was clunky as hell. Style over control doesn't work a lot, but glad someone likes it.

Same deal. More defence of LP2 and believing that Brad's review was ''wrong''.

I assume I'm going to enjoy Lost Planet 2 as the first was quite awesome.

#21 Posted by Subject2Change (2966 posts) -

I'm trying to get the Demon's Souls reference? That game is appreciated by those who can deal with the torture for the reward, myself being one of them. Demon's Souls runs smoothly, looks good and controls fine some reviewers couldn't deal with the difficulty due to the short time required to review it. So dumping 6 hours into 1-1 was a bad idea and it was reviewed poorly due to that.

#22 Posted by owl_of_minerva (1455 posts) -
@Abyssfull:  Reviewers with a plural. Defending Brad's opinion entails defending this guy's opinion, so stop fellating that retarded review.

Lmao just stfu you elitist ass.
I'm hardly ''fellating'' Brad's review. Its not like I said trophyhunters opinion was ''wrong'' either. I haven't played the game so I can't say which one I agree with, it's still a nuisance to see more of this ''WTF THIS GAME IS GREAT, ALL REVIEWS WHO SAY OTHERWISE PLAYED DIFFERENT GAME!''.

Plus it's clearly more aimed at Brad's review over the complaints of it being called ''janky'' and referencing Demon' Souls.

@Subject2Change:  It's akin to Demon Souls in that the staff dismissed it because they didn't bother to adjust to the mechanics and controls. Lost Planet 2 is another instance of a game apparently not playing easily or intuitive enough thus leading to it being perceived as bad or too difficult.
#25 Posted by odintal (1095 posts) -

wasn't there a meme generator pic floating around recently about how Brad sucks at games?

#26 Edited by owl_of_minerva (1455 posts) -
@Abyssfull:  If you look at the substance of the OP he's talking about his experiences playing the game rather than the details of anyone's review. By bringing it back to Brad you're derailing the thread, and do you really want to talk about the review any more? I don't think anyone does. Saying "aww this shit again?" self-defeatingly makes it the topic when no one's talking about it.
If you don't like it then you aren't obligated to be here.
Edit: except for the other people derailing the thread in the same way. Gj giantbomb.
#27 Posted by Bones8677 (3276 posts) -
@owl_of_minerva: Except that the title of this thread directly references reviewers. So no, people are not bringing Brad back in, he and other reviewers were here in the first place. That's all I have to say.
#28 Posted by XenoNick (1481 posts) -

I havent played much of the single player and but about 5-6 hours into multiplayer and im enjoying ti so far. But since review's dont really sway me much (GB gave AvP a low review and i enjoyed the single player in it) I never get why people feel the need however to rush to defend a game just because it got a low score...in the end it doesnt change the opinion of the person who reviewed it or the people who agree with its score.

#29 Posted by owl_of_minerva (1455 posts) -
@Bones8677:  That is undeniably true. The reason I would overlook that is that promoting discussion about a game people such as myself might be interested in is valuable. Bringing in Brad's review or harping on such a detail when there's already a massive thread devoted to that review is a waste of everyone's time.
A thread can be pushed towards a better place instead of just wallowing in snark.

I have big issues with the Battle Gauge and some of the design choices. It should have been better in my opinion. It would be really easy to improve the experience just by tweaking the way a few things are handled: checkpoints, battle gauge, menus, game-player communication, etc.

I love this thread. The best part about it is I can enjoy it on any game site I visit (IGN, Gamespot/Faqs etc etc). This exact thread is on the top of all their boards.

Let me take a stab in the dark here: You're a GB fanboy, you haven't played the game and you explicitly trust reviews and only play games that get a 9.5 or higher.   Or you could try forming your own opinions. "
I love it when nerds jump on someone like this.

Anyone who's seen me post knows I'm the furthest thing from a GB fanboy.

And because I think LP2 looks shitty, didn't like the first one at all, I only trust 9.5 reviews? Where in the fuck did you pull that logic from?

Grow a pair and don't jump on others when you're clearly insecure about your own opinion. Kind of ironic to tell me to "form my own opinion", when my opinion clearly upsets you.

I don't have to play LP2 to know it's not my game, and it looks shitty.
#35 Posted by owl_of_minerva (1455 posts) -
@get2sammyb:  That's a fair point. It seems like by far the most broken thing is the way the online works though - making it painless to join other people's games and vice-versa would do much to alleviate some of the issues it sounds like people are having. Some of the other problems might simply be the result of having the focus almost entirely on multiplayer and did the singleplayer a huge disservice in the process.
Another thing don't get a lot of the complaints about the control scheme and prioritising animations, etc unless one mindlessly compares it to Gears and other Western shooters. In my time with Lost Planet I found it quite easy to play.

At least Vinny gave Demon's Souls a go, and I respect him from that. The rest of the crew just shit on it without even playing it or taking the time to.

he admitted as much already.

it's safer to just assume anyone who doesn't link their profile to at least one of either steam, wow, xbl is probably just here to troll.
#43 Posted by Cube (4366 posts) -
@SteamPunkJin: Never said it as a fact.

Anything I say is of course my opinion, and I don't have to follow some stupid ass process to make my opinion "informed". I don't need to play it, I don't need to read any reviews, if it looks shitty to me, it looks shitty.

I gave lost planet a chance and hearing they didn't fix the broken ass controls only strengthens my view that LP2 is an unnecessary sequel. If you're so comfortable with your opinion, others opinions shouldn't bother you, much less "uninformed" opinions.

After all, they're "worthless"...right?

Thats cool. Glad you enjoy the game. And all people that say that you shouldn't say anything about someones opinion is wrong. Argue opinions all you want. I like it when people argue with me on my opinions. It gets a really good detailed conversation going.

#46 Posted by Marzy (675 posts) -

I played the demo of it on PS3 last year and I thought it was pretty spectacular. The huge monster I had to fight at the end of it was incredible, I was in awe at the scale of it.

Overall, it seemed like a good game. I may get it in the future, when it's cheaper.

I found the demo kinda clunky and annoying. The whole falling down thing, and the battle meter and the way it controls. The fact that those things carried over to the full game makes me not want to play it.

im  not very far into it either but im digging it so far, i think as long as you get a solid group of 4 to do the campaign it will be worth it.
