Miranda
Mass Effect 2
Game » consists of 21 releases. Released Jan 26, 2010
After a violent death by an unknown force and a timely reanimation by the human supremacist organization Cerberus, Commander Shepard must assemble a new squad in the seedier side of the galaxy for a suicide mission in the second installment of the "Mass Effect" trilogy.
Who do you NOT want to return to Mass Effect 3?
Jacob had no personality, Samara was ok, but not great, I actually liked Grunt, but yeah, Wrex would be 10 times better. Honestly, probaly Jacob out of all of those.
" Oh, and even less Joker, please. Ugh. "
Yea I hated Joker in both games. I always felt like the character model was a bit off, and he looked weird talking. It was like he was talking with just moving the middle of his lips and not the whole thing.
Garrus can go as well--he was useless, didn't like him in the first game, like him even less in the second.
" Miranda, Jacob, Kaiden and Ashley. Everyone else is welcome in my ME3 playthrough (especially Liara) "So basically you hate humans?
You really think they're going to make ME3 party members out of people that could already be dead? I could maybe see them doing Ashley / Kaidan -because everybody at least has one or the other- and Legion would be easy enough, but that's about it. They could use the others like they used Wrex and Liara in ME2, but I doubt they'll be party members. If they start resurrecting the rest of the team like they did Shepard, that would just be the lamest.
The only party member who is definitely still alive for everybody at this point is Liara.

"Actually, Legion can die. He died in my first playthrough. Looked through the door and took a single yellow orb-shot thing to the "head," killing him.
As far as people I don't want to see goes, I would prefer it if everyone was able to make their appearance. If they had to drop someone, I'd prefer it be Jack. And they need to give Kaiden some prestige. He's too much of a whiny wimp. How about he comes back from that planet (forgot the name) and lost an arm or something. That's something we haven't seen yet. Otherwise they can get stop wasting resources and just drop him from the main story.
I lost Thane, though I did not want to. But as said, he was already dieing. Jack..saw nothing but the wrong side of her, all the way from the beginning. My initial instints prompted by the game(absolutely no subtlety) with very little to sympathize with, other than her isolation.. Also Grunt..he so squarely faced an almost cirtain death mission at the end, I finally took to him. Otherwise he and his kind are simply breeding themselves to overrun and oppress the galaxy..no like. Oh yeah, that breeding issue, someone else thought of it also....
" @FunExplosions: I mean they could bring him back easily enough by just saying he was 'backed up' on the Normandy's computer or something. "I have no doubt Bioware will find a cheap narrative device to bottleneck your choices so it basically won't matter how you did on the suicide mission. Just like every version of ME1 ended the same and every version of ME2 began the same. Its a cheap illusion. But I would put money down they will simply turn a good portion of your survivors into quest givers and not only that, but anyone who died will have a new character acting as the quest giver. So it will basically not matter at all. You won't get any extra PCs and you won't miss any quests no matter what you did. Your choices don't matter.
I don't mind if Jacob returns, he never seemed all that original to me, but as far as characters I'd prefer not to return go I think I have to include Liara T'Soni; it was kind of good to have her there as a bit of a link between my old Normandy crew and my current Normandy crew in Mass Effect 2 but I've found Samara and Morinth to be more interesting asari characters. I also wasn't very fond of Jack, I could see she had a troubled past but she boiled down to a bit of a one-dimensional angry character which is understandable for characters like Grunt or Wrex because they have the interesting characteristics of being aliens but for a human like Jack it just didn't resonate with me. I could do without Zaeed as well, I don't feel like Mass Effect 2 really dived very deep into his personality or that there was a personality to dive very deep into, even after completing his mission I still didn't really feel like he wasn't just a guy out for himself. By the looks of this thread though it seems like opinions on characters differ a lot from person to person.
Liara T'soni, becuase I fucked her in the first game for the achievement and don't want anything to do with her. I know that sounds horrible, but I'm renegade. This cold heart beats for Tali now.
Kaiden & Ashley. They're both tools. Luckily Kaiden is dead, but that bitch Ashley is still alive.
Dr. Chakwas. It creeps me out that I feel like Helen Mirren is my doctor.
The only person that definitely needs to be there at the end is Garrus, Tali and Ashley. Everyone else seemed to have a great story attached to them, but more of a short term focus.
****Spoilers****
Jacob was just lame, didn't do much. Thane ... well he wont be there long. Legion is 2 dimensional and was really more a shock factor. I mean his role was only important because of the decision you make regarding the geth, but beyond that, he could be any other one. Samara has her own business and Grunt belongs to clan Urdnot. Garrus and Tali showed loyalty to Shepard, and Ashley has the close ties to cerberus to keep the players relationship with the elusive man ... less elusive?
The only characters that I can connect with (and would like to see return) are Garrus, Tali, Mordin and Legion.
The others are all expendables.
And had Miranda's face look better (blame it on whoever did the character modelling. Strahovski look good in real life but looks really really ugly in the game somehow.) I wouldn't mind seeing her return. But God damn she's just so ugly.
Jacob was uninteresting at all.
Samara is nice but felt like she out of the place somehow.
Thane is probably the most interesting character of the game, but since the game suggested that he won't be able to "last that long", I don't really expect seeing him return.
Jack is just a crazy bitch.
Grunt is just a trigger happy muscle.
Zaaed didn't have enough character in him to make him feel unique.
for me its not about characters, but the whole upgrades system. i hated it. you had to collect so many different things to do it. i'd get a weapon upgrade and the game is all like "you need one other upgrade and the materials to boot" which was just bs. also, i want more diverse weaponry. it was like "why would i use anything other than the battle rifle?: i used that damn thing through the entire game.
Jacob: I never used him he was too boring.
Grunt: Boring krogan Wrex is cooler.
Zaaed: Stupid character with no personality other than being a pissed man.
You know, it's funny- I actually liked her in the first game, but after you see her again, I wanted to shoot her in the face." Just Ashley, I liked pretty much everyone else. "
I don't want the DLC characters coming back, but for the main cast: Jack, Samera, and Grunt. Didn't really care for them at all.
I really want Thane to be in the next game, but with his dying state, I doubt it. Would be cool if ME3 has a sidequest with his funeral or something if he lived in your save, but that's if he dies.
I don't like emo Thane.
Grunt Im not so sure about, sometimes you just need a 4 ton arrogant peice of walking muscle.
Kasumi won't shut the fuck up about ramen and I'd gladly buddy up with Zaeed and throw her into his trash compacter and then out of the air lock.
Jacob can come back when he stops looking like an upper torso with legs.
Jack is like Grunt for me, but she should be kept in a cage.
Samara keeps looking at me funny and I don't like the way she does that.
Tali can go though, she threatened me with shotguns and wants to destroy our only chance of reasoning with the Geth.
Ash is just too emotional to see what's at stake, I want Liara back, I love seeing her angry. "I'll crush them so that their body will fit into this coffee cup!".
Well I only lost Tali, which suited me fine as I thought she was a terrible character. So shes definitely not coming back >:D
I could care less about Jacob, Miranda or Zaeed. Havent played the DLC so don't know about those characters.
I just want Thane to have more dialogue in the next game, really interesting character.
I was incredibly happy when in the first minute of Mass Effect 2 Navigator Pressly dies. That guy was my least favorite character in the entire series.
But for Mass Effect 3 I'd rather not have back Ashley, Tali, Jacob, and Jack. I would have had them all killed in the suicide mission if I wasn't such a nice paragon.
I can't help but mention just how irrelevant all of the characters really are. If anyone can die, and the story continues relatively unaffected, those characters weren't worth caring about in the first place. I know Bioware is trying, but the more options they offer, the less meaningful any of those options are.
