So I'm looking at ME 1 in my backlog & groaning about the
still numerous achievements that I've yet to obtain to get
the S-rank. What a serious fucking pain it is!!! Play the
game, each & every mission, in order to get those fucking
infernal Ally achievements. And the long service medal,
to reach 60th level. I can tell you that from 59 to 60 is such
a bitch. I've got 100k xp to earn it & all I'm getting is a piddly
100xp here or there. At that rate, I'll be playing through it
yet again!
Finally I've come up with an idea to get at least four of
these damnable achievements in one play through. I've
started my next game with the 59th level character, using
insanity, & then using 2 of the Allies I haven't used yet,
Kaidan/Liara. Sadly it does mean I have to play through
the whole damn game, in full, to get those Ally achievements.
That will net me the insanity, long sevice, & two ally
achievements in one game.
After that, I'm only left with the biotics & the Soldier
achievement, although that sounds like that could take
a really long time to complete as well & lastly the boring
engineering ability achievement. Let's face it: ME1 is
definitely one of those games where you wished to God
you had read the Achievements before you ever started
playing the game! Had I done that, I would have NEVER
mixed & matched my team through the entire game the
first time around (receiving 0 ally achievements for doing
so & I spent 60 hours finishing that one playthrough!).
It seems like I'll never be done with this fuckin' game.
Mass Effect
Game » consists of 21 releases. Released Nov 20, 2007
Humanity is still a newcomer on the futuristic galactic stage, and it's up to the charismatic Commander Shepard to investigate the actions of a rogue agent while under threat from a dangerous synthetic race known as the Geth.

I did one 100% run of ME1 and it completely killed any desire to ever go back and play that game. People complaining about DA2 haven't driven the mako around several desolate planets to find one of the same 3 areas and kill everyone inside.
I have, S-Ranked ME2 however, that only required 1 or 2 playthroughs.

just to slog through these achievements. Every time I get ready to leap
into ME2 like when I heard about the new DLC coming out, there is ME1's
box cover laughing at me & giving me the finger. So I feel compelled to
run the gauntlet of ME1 once again & try to snag 4 achievements this time.
Hopefully I'll find some way to play ME1 another playthru to get the last
Ally achievement (Ash) & all of those biotic achievements.
I just wish there was some fucking meter that would tell me I had completed
enough side-quests to get an Ally activated. Looking back on these ME1
achievements these days, it seems like they would be deceptively simple
to get, but overall, it's a real slog-fest to obtain. Maybe I should try to run
two games at the same time. Play one for a few hours as once character,
then go play it as a different character for the other achievements & slowly
progress. Thanks for helping me think of this new idea.
" @vidiot said:I'm at a lost." It's not that bad, there are far worse achievement lists. Why is your formatting all over the place? "Because he's a poet, gosh damn it! "
Either Halilinel or me are being cursed at, and I'm being told in order to understand the context of a very specific formatting: I should go skim-through and hunt down someone's specific blog entry.
Yeah. That's not going to happen.

" @Lind_L_Taylor: I would suggest running a Soldier, Adept, and Engineer class to cover all of the weapon, biotic, and tech based achievements. Also be sure to check out the discussion in the Asari Ally Achievement page to plan your actions before doing any of the side missions on the citadel. "I wish I had done that earlier! I did an Infiltrator the first time through,
did every mission but changed up Allies. Then I did the same PC again
the second time through & I think I didn't get any Allies there, or maybe
just one, which then odd-balled the whole damn thing making me have
to do extra playthrus. I need to make sure I don't screw the Asari
achievement, or I will be Ah-so-sari at end of game. :P So far with
my Level 59 Infiltrator, insanity battles aren't too hard yet. I hope I can
skip that one crappy mission where it has all of those giant 4-legged
geth, those were pretty tough in hard or normal modes & I'd just as
soon avoid them if I can.
Man. That 930 points that I earned in Mass Effect 1 sure do look good right now. I think my hour count overall was around 67 hours. Also, for the record -Mass Effect 1 > Mass Effect 2.

played through it 4 times already & I know the story very well now.
I just want to move on...if only (I had the rest of those achievements!
lol). They feel like they're just out of reach.
ME2 achievements should be a cake walk. I only had one achievement
left to get before the DLC started coming out. But then I had to call it
quits for a bit (year) to play something else.
That's why I'm glad I've never even seriously considered getting the full 1000 in Mass Effect 1. Stupid grinding is stupid, and the gameplay isn't good enough for me to seek out every single cookie cutter sidequest in even one playthough.
Achievements are evil (I mean real evil here, not kidding). the ME1 S-Rank is just stupid. I have no respect for anybody who got all the points.
" @Lind_L_Taylor: If you don't enjoy playing the game just stop! Play something or do something you enjoy. I had a great time with ME1. I think I ended up playing thru that game 7 times. I only did the resources once on the first play thru, and only did mission-list-complete on 3 or 4 play thrus. loved them all tho. That game and Fallout 3 kept me busy for over a year :) Great times. "but...I....can't!!! I gotta get it all. I just gotta! I do enjoy it
somehow, the pain it brings I guess. It's not like total hate,
otherwise I wouldn't even try. If the achievements were
based on some ridiculous reflexes or insanity was really
hard, I'd just have given up on that right away. But no!
These achievements are obtainable & possible to get.
All it takes is....fucking..time!
Hell I just got enough of the Watchmen 1 achievements
to get my achievement score back in ending in 0s or 5s.
If I play Watchment 2, probably be as a non XBL user
just so I don't risk screwing my achievement score again.

" The 360 version is already terrible and the achievements just make it even more painful. I'm still surprised I've managed to play through it 3 times, as well as twice on PC. Uhh. "
PC? Why in the world...? Once I get the achievements it's
game over forever for me & ME1. I'll know that damn game
by heart by then, speaking all the lines, acting it out, knowing
the motions, the storyline. All the minutia. But I'll feel
complete. Whole, goddamit.

Get out of your Mako to get tons of XP for kills. Play on the highest difficulty. Get a walkthrough/side planet maps. Etc. I've played enough of the game enough times on enough machines to have pretty much all that stuff one way or another, and it's really not that much work until you get into the part where you need to play the game like 4 times just to get the ally achievements.
