A Soldiers Requim
Presentation: 5/5
What can I say? Metal Gear Solid has some of the best cinematics on the ps1. The Intro cutscene sets the mood for the whole game. As soon as you pop in the disc, you want to stay for the whole ride. Hideo Kojima is a master at his own craft. His storytelling rivals Hinorobu Sakugachi, the creator of the Final Fantasy Series. The only problem with the presentation, is that people with short attention spans, will find themselves skipping lots of important dialogue.
Controls: 5/5
Metal gear solid is no Splinter cell. The controlls are nicely mapped in different sections of the controller. The response is incredible. During battles, the controller is ready to go. Though this part of the game is mostly pressing a few buttons, you will find yourself and your thumb feeling relaxed after each battle. That's assuming if your the rambo type of player.
Boss Fights: 5/5
MGS has some of the best boss fights in gaming history. The sniper fight, both part one and part 2 was my favorite. The death almost made me tear up for killing her. Everytime you fight a character, the screen quickly flashes white, then starts the battle. I loved that featrue, inspecially during the fight with Ocelot. After he said draw, the screen flashed white and i was ready.
Music: 5/5
Even for a ps1 game, Metal Gear solid has some of the most meaningfull and most lovely game music, i've ever heard. The opening song made me think of Princess Monnonoke. Harry Gregoson Williams is a master musician. His music can be emotional, tense and edgy, all at the same time.
Conclusion
Metal Gear solid is a must have. Fans of MG and MG 2: Solid Snake and even movies such as Escape from La , will love this game. Fans of action and drama, will cling to this. Without a doubt, Metal Gear Solid is the Game for everyone. I reccommend anyone who doesn't have it, to go out and give it a try. I give Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation one, a flawless; 10 out of 10.
