The developers of Mirror's Edge have been pretty adamant about it being first person only with no option for a third person view. Are y'all for or against this? I personally like the choice cause the view is what, in my opinion, makes the game.
Mirror's Edge
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Nov 11, 2008
In a futuristic totalitarian dystopia, a master courier (in a group of renegade "runners") investigates a conspiracy, while outrunning the deadly government military, in this parkour-inspired first-person action game.
For or against first person only view in this game?
Well that's it's USP really, with a third person camera there ain't much difference between Mirror's Edge and any other platformer game. That and the 'runner vision' or whatever it's called highlighting potential paths red would make little sense if you have a third person perspective.
Be interesting to see how they pull it off.
I prefer third person view in nearly any game. Only games I accept first person is in the high end shooters, like cod and halo and half life
i like the first person. I think they need to get the movement nice and fluid and the gameplay dynamic enough to keep me intrested for a long time. I think if they slowly introduce new moves and more complex enviroments until eventually your doing this mad strung together movements that it would be good for 6 hours or so. I think that the story will play a big roll in keeping it intresting as well. Looks like a game id play through in 6 hours then sell it the next day.
I feel like this is the game I've been waiting for my entire life - I often think third person is a cop-out for some games, or features within games.
For it I love the style and we havent had a good first person action adventure or a good first person game in a while so why not third person does get boring eventually
First-person, please. It's more realistic and feels more like an experience. Also, I don't want to be a girl! :O
I just saw the new extended video and it seemed like a much better Half-life 1 game in terms of gameplay. I think if Half-life 1 had the features of Mirror's Edge, it would be much better. Where you start the game without a weapon and your goal is to survive. Seeing you body provides more realism, climbing the ladders and jumping ledges, etc.
For it, dude. The whole purpose of the game is to make you feel like you're really doing all these wild stunts. It wouldn't be nearly as interesting if it wasn't in first person.
The choice would be nice, but the problem would probably be that people would experience a lower level of difficulty or feel more grounded in the real world with a third-person view and so be tempted to use it over the first-person view. However push the player into only being able to use first-person and the usual response is that they accept it and have a generally more immersive experience.
Okay, first...that: ^^ is the single creepist image ever.
Second, before I played Condemned I was thinking the idea was whack. Now I'm all for it.
