One of the goriest fighting game franchises returns to its roots, introducing a new story that re-tells the events of the first three Mortal Kombat games (with a unique twist).
Mortal Kombat Cuts Down To The Bone
Whenever Jeff gets super excited for MK, my eyes just glaze over. What does he see in this franchise? The old games were *never* great. The fighting has always been awkward and clunky. I just don't get it.
I have to say since they announced the TvC controls in MvC3 this might be my next go to fighter. Rocking Reptile/Kung Lao, that is.

I really wish though instead of using this "Super Meter" thing like Street Fighter now has with SFIV, I wish they would just come up with their own new things; this is in essence what made Mortal Kombat new and cool for me.

I just don't get it. "Nah, the fighting was never "odd and clunky" you just never took the time to get used to it. Hell, I bet someone that's new to Street Fighter 4, and that has never played it, would think that the fighting in that game is odd, and clunky. It's just kind of the nature of fighting games, and you either play a specific fighting game long enough to break through that wall until it's no longer difficult, and clunky, or you don't...
I'm with Jeff in how excited he is. I actually like the MK fighting system over Street Fighter. In addition, Jeff is a true fan of the fighting genre. Not just some hardcore, biased Street Fighter 4 player. He can appreciate many different fighting games, and not just play one while calling all the rest "garbage."
That's exactly what Modern Warfare 2 fans say about Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Instead of being a true fan of the FPS genre, they feel like they gotta defend their game of choice, and bash everything else. That's not being a fan of the genre, that's being a fan of a single game.
MK is just fine, and has a pretty huge following. Otherwise it would have never made it to game 9.
I gotta say Im looking forward to the game and will buy it even if it blows monkey nuts (unlike MK vs DC since it isnt even canon anyways), but info learned from Jeff has actually given me hope that this game wont suck. Will it be as good as SF4 though????
.... One thing worries me..... Jeff..... He gave MKvsDC a 5/5 when, me, a hardcore MK fanboy, has to say that was the single worst MK any thing.... ever...... Like honestly the game deserved a 1/5 and Im not exaggerating. That game was broken to all hell with its controls where you dont gotta do down, forward, punch, but rather just diagonally d/f+P for example. (which im gonna assume Jeff didnt figure out) The game totally unbalanced and just garbage. Seriously just go look up vids of Superman and/or the Flash. Plus worst of all the game just totally alienated the hardcore fanbase in every way possible besides leaving the likes of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden out..... Mortal Kombat: Armageddon was garbage and MKvsDC was just worst....
All in all im excited for the new MK, which should be referred to as MK8 I would think as MKvsDC is just a spinoff.... I mean calling it MK 9 is like if you called SF4 actually SF6.
Are they going to make mortal Kombat good now that midway is dead?
Mortal kombat has never been a good fighting so that might be impossible for anybody to do and it has always been broken in boring ways not even a good broken.
I totaly want parts of my life wasted playing the mortal kombat games in the arcade back since that was all there was to do while waiting for a real fighting game like virtua fighter or street fighter crowds around the machines to clear. or the NBA jam machine that was always stuffed next to the fucking mortal kombat game no matter what arcade spot you was in taunting you that the only other fucking fighting game there was a crap mortal kombat so you better like basketball and Bill Clinton.
OH man well it does have the Edge over marvel vs capcom 1 or 2 that sucks even than mortal kombat.
I still feel the pain when my friend had to buy that fucking "mortal kombat gold" on launch day of the dreamcast since they was all out of good games for it he had to play that crap rather Soulcalibur.
Then again killer instinct was better than mortal kombat but the machine was expensive so only upscale arcades had it or /virtua fighter 1- 2 or viruta fighter 3 and all the Dirty cheep ghetto arcades had is mortal kombat machines but not just 1 of them oh no.. the entire fucking series and that was it.
