The first Mario Console SideScroller since Super Mario World...

New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, was an instant hit selling 900,000 copies in the first 4 days. Nintendo, wanting to capatalize on that success released New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The first Mario Console SideScroller since Super Mario World. Was it good? Hell yes.
Do you really want to know the plot? Okay, Princess Peach get kidnapped, again... and guess what? It's up to a midget Italian Plumber to save her! Again...
Alright If you've never played played a Mario sidescroller, or any sidescroller for that matter, basically you are in a level where you can move left, right or jump, trying to get to the end of the level while avoiding enimies, pits of death and other hazards. Once you've beaten a level, you move onto another level. Once you've beaten enough levels you move onto a boss level, which contains the boss (duh) beat him and you move onto a new world. This may sound boring, but not to NSMBW. Every world has a different, well setting, if you will, there is an ice world, a desert world, a plains world, etc. and every level within every world is varied, so you get alot of variety.
Controls are very simple for this game, you hold the wiimote sideways (or the wiimote and nunchuck, but why would you use that for a game like this) you push left or right on the D-Pad to move left or right 2 to jump, and 1 to use power-ups. There is also a function where when you shake the wiimote you spin, giving you a bit more air time. The controls work very well, and I found myself never saying when I die, F**K YOU!! I COULDN'T MOVE!!!
Speaking of dying, you will be dying a LOT in this game. It's hard, WAY harder then the DS game. You're going to have to use that Spin Jump I told you about earlier, trust me, If you don't like a fair challenge, don't buy this game. There is however, a super-guide option, which is when you're having a hard time pplaying the level, Luigi can play it for you, this may sound like it makes the game to easy, but you don't have to use it, and you have to die 8 times in a row in order to use it.
The Graphics are great. Everything is nice and colorful, and the characters are animated well. Something you don't see very often in today's gaming world. ESPECIALLY on the Wii.
Now the problems. If this game had fixed these little problems, which could have easily been fixed, the gam ewould have been near-perfect. First of all, why is Yoshi barely used. It's awesome to ride that little dinosaur, and they barely use him at all. He's found in a couple levels throughout the game, but if you beat the level with him, you lose him! WHY, I ask? Yoshi was one of the best things about Super Mario World, but in NSMBW he's barely used! I mean, YOU ADVERTISE HIM ON THE F**KING COVER! WE WANT YOSHI. If you don't agree with me, go back to Al Qaeda where you belong. (jk) Second of all, there is very few power-ups in this game. We get all the basic stuff, like Fire Flowers, Mushrooms, etc. and like, 2 new ones. (Penguin Suit & Propeller Suit) but that's it. I mean this is a 2.5D game on the Wii, I think you had more space available. I wouldn't have cared if they delayed another month or so. Games need to be released when they're ready. NSMBW was, for the most part ready, but these 2 issues cause a problem with me. That keeps an otherwise Near-perfect game, from being so.
WAIT WAIT THE REVIEW ISN'T OVER YET! I completely forgot about multiplayer! NSMBW has up to 4 player simultanious co-op and well, it's hectic. You rarely work together with your pals and are always bouncing off each other's heads, resulting in the other players death. Now this may sound awful, but if you don't take it too seriously, you'll have a fun time. Another thing no Wi-Fi? C'mon Nintendo!
Now, NSMBW is an amazing game, and if you haven't picked it up already, go to F.Y.E. or Gamestop, or E.B. Games or wherever you go and buy it.

The tribute and tribulation of New Super Mario Bros Wii. 0

A rotund, European blue-collar worker with both an obscenely low center of gravity and yet a shockingly high vertical leap teams with his lanky brother. Both are twins so therefore must dress identically in fashion but different in colour. Both have a strong resemblance to Ron Jeremy. They exist in a land paved and constructed almost entirely of bricks and sewage piping is used as transportation. These European plumbers must leap on top of unassuming turtles and teeth-boasting plants while see...

New Super Mario Bros. Wii marks the return of 2D Mario games to consoles - I believe the first since Super Mario World.  Although it is in some ways a return to the classic formula that made Mario the king of gaming, Nintendo does their staple move of taking what made those games great, and expanding it, making it a unique yet still immensely enjoyable experience.  Obviously, the biggest change to New Super Mario Bros. Wii is the inclusion of cooperative play for up to 4 players.  I personally l...
