This game is going to be the bee's knees when it comes out. I'm a die hard OFP fan and so far, from what I've seen, this game could very well be the best sequel to OFP so far.
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising is a direct sequel to 2001's hit combat simulation game Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and the expansion pack Operation Flashpoint: Resistance.

Yeah i'm looking forward to this game too( haven't paid much attention though,is it made by same devs? I hope so..) The first was one of my favorite fps's at the time, and to this day is probably the most realistic military shooter to date,I loved that game.
here's hoping that the second turns out just as great and then some!
I think you guys should check out the latest video interviews of OFP 2, it has a bit of gameplay at the side of the screen cos the cameraman was more interested in videoing the developers face lol. First peek video and interview about the game's AI.
Okay, ummmm I have to admit it, I hate games where you can die in like 2 shots however, Flashpoint is the exception it's one of my favorite games ever, mainly because it looks so real, and it feels real, the weapons actually looked like the real deal. I'm seriously hoping this game is as good as it looks, mainly because I've been dying for a game where I can actually feel the intensity and the need to keep my head down and be able to take a guy out with one shot without the frustration of dying over and over again, cause seriously, firing half a clip of ammo into an enemy and having him turn around and shoot you once and you end up dying, just sucks ass. However, I am hoping that they get the vehicle action down like Battlefield did, such as when landing on the shore of an area and just all out hell and explosions breaking loose, that was just so awesome! I'm not a big gamer but I'm hoping this game fits the role of the best Modern Warfare shooter. Cause I'm getting sick and tired of Call of Duty 4....
ARMA is the true continuation of Operation Flashpoint.
'Operation Flashpoint 2' is just a name. The team who are making it had nothing to do with the previous game. The fact that it's being developed as a multi-platform game should be setting off alarm bells also.
I expect to see a PC port of the console version and all that that entails.
This vid might help some get a better idea as to why Codies has been so excited about the next Operation Flashpoint game. Hardcore mode looks pretty damn cool.

The game is on the list of potential Gamefly rents, but I really don't think I'll be buying it this year. The game does sound pretty good, just not as good as, say, Alpha Protocol or Brutal Legend, which come out at the same time. Oh, well.
Codemasters released four new videos showing some night combat and a beach landing.
Both missions are being played on the Xbox 360.
Totally drooling over this game, and have been for awhile. Makes ArmA II look like a joke, and completely destroys any interest I had in MW2. I'm glad it's coming to consoles cause I want it to sell as well as it can, but I'm definitely getting the PC version.
Wow, seeing those videos makes this look even more impressive. I really hope it turns out to be interesting in the long run though. These very realistic military games are usually great in the beginning but get more stale as they go on. I have a feeling this will be different. I hope I am right.
" Do bullets go through things and is their a weight system? "
Don't know if Codemasters has said anything about that. But, in the first video at around 5:10 it looked like the bullets were piercing the wooden structure.

Played it last night. During the Beach mission i was in an APC gunner seat and was watching my missed shots ricochet off the rocks and fly into the air.
Bullets can definitely penetrate things they should be able to. Walls for example, and certain vehicles with the right rifle.
Just had a play of it. It doesn't feel right. Running or even walking feels jittery. That and the graphics looking terrible if enough to stop me from wanting to play this. It just feels cheap i guess.
Sounds like the original Operation Flashpoint. It felt a bit like junk, but I liked the gameplay. I couldn't find the new one at the local store (neither the PC nor the PS3 version)...so I guess I'll wait for the demo." Just had a play of it. It doesn't feel right. And I can't really say I agree with the feel of it.. feels fine to me, I've only had to fight with giving orders to AI. They could've done a better job explaining the mechanic some, but I really appreciate it's there.
