    Paper Mario

Game » consists of 11 releases. Released Aug 11, 2000

The second Mario-themed RPG features a pop-up storybook aesthetic with flat paper characters. When the Seven Star Spirits are kidnapped by the forces of Bowser, it's up to Mario and his traveling companions to save the Mushroom Kingdom!

    Pure fun.

Every once in a while a game comes along that just makes you... happy.

    Gameplay

If you've played Super Mario RPG, this game will feel very familiar. It's the basic jrpg layout with action commands to involve the player more in the battle. The only thing that REALLY makes it stand out is the fun, memorable boss battles. They can be tough, they have great (and unique for every boss) music, and very interesting characters to battle against. The only problem is that the non-boss fights can get repetitive every once in a while.

    Story

Bowser kidnaps Peach. Mario saves Peach. Oh, there's seven stars you have to get. Yeah, the story is lame. But the characters are where the game shines. They can be funny, they can be cute, they can be emotional. Surprising for a Mario game, but I've come to expect it from every Paper Mario by now.

    Graphics

While not technically amazing or anything, the game has a certain charm. Its paper theme and cartoony style make it pleasant to look at.

While I would have loved to give this game 5 stars, it has some flaws. Mainly in the fact that the battles can get boring sometimes.

It strayed away from the platforming that Mario is known best for. To go to an RPG type of gamplay and stay true to Mario is amazing. Square helped develop the game, so it's no surprise that it was great.Paper Mario was developed by Intelligent Systems, and the gameplay is very different from the SNES counterpart, as well ...
