Microsoft itself will completely stop supporting XP in 2011 or 2012 (No patches, security updates, or anything), so it is really not surprising that software developers are jumping ship ahead of them.  Especially companies that develop resource-intensive games.

This is great news. There are a ton of great features in DX 10 that developers can`t use to develop games because of people using XP. Dice is doing the right thing by making dx 10 the minimum requirement.

A.  if you're actually really into PC gaming you're probably running windows 7 already.  there's no excuse to be running an 8 year old OS on a gaming rig.

I'm glad that they're leaving behind far obsolete systems, that's the thing that often holds back PC games and causes problems (I'm looking at you Valve).

I wont give a shit about this so long as there is AI and BOT support for LAN and SKirmish battles, if not, then dice can go fuck em selves as i haven't bought a single bf game after the absolute mess they left with battlefield 2, waiting for practicly 2 years for dice to release the nav meshies, the community saved this game from going right into the shitter in march of the following year it was released.

Well I hope they optimize DX10 MUCH MUCH MUCH more than they have in BC2. DX9 always runs so much better than DX10, and the gap is even greater in BC2 than most games.

I'm cool with that, Windows 7 is the best OS Microsoft has put out. Ever. Its about time developers move forward with technology than stick with a OS that's 10 years old. Windows XP feels so goddamn old and clunky, why would anyone bother to run that OS anymore? The game will probably not come out in 1-2 years anyways, plenty of time to upgrade to a updated OS.

DX9 = 100+ FPS
DX10 = 40 FPS

They better use DX11 better than previous attempts, it's so much faster than DX10 but still far behind DX9. Online shooters are all about FPS, not graphics.
 
Oh and a new Battlefield already? Why bother buying this when a new one is coming out a year later? .............. Backfire milking.

windows xp is likes 100 years old and sucks compared to 7, nobody with a gaming capable pc should be still on it.
