My PS3 recently broke and well I wanted to know your guys opinions. Should go and buy a new one or buy a few good games for my Wii and 360?

The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
Goodbye PS3.
Up to you, if you play your Wii and 360 more than I would go for the games, but if you play your PS3 more than get a new one.
Me personally, I would fix that ps3. The games on it now are great (gow3 tomorrow!!!!) and it'll only get better so I would. I just know that if my 360 breaks (again, im on my 3rd) I am NOT getting another, I'm really only looking forward to conviction and gears on it so I'll just play at a friends house and thats that. But I would definitely get another ps3. And as for the wii, well can't bash on it too much since nintendo is mushing their big 3 into one year again.
Getting your PS3 fixed would cost ~$180 (can't remember the exact amount I paid), which is only 3 new retail games. If you can think of 3 games that are more important than owning a system that you can potentially buy more games for, then go for it. Otherwise, get your PS3 fixed.
if it were me, i would replace it right away. i have loads and loads of unplayed games piled up on pretty much ever system you can imagine. but trying to plan around a broken system just doesn't work. you never know when you're going to get a hankering to play one of the games you only have on ps3.
if it broke once, get another ps3, if it breaks a second time dont... kinda like how i treated my 360...
To the fix it option, no warranty.
That really sucks. Personally I'm having a hard time deciding what I'd do in your position, but I think I'd probably get a new PS3. Still, it really depends on how much you enjoy each of the consoles you own, do you think you would enjoy getting a new PS3 more than or less than getting a few games for your 360 and Wii?
I would fix it. You are on your second PS3, which probably means there are enough games on it you like and are looking forward to that you will want a PS3 around to play them. However, your picture is of Mass Effect 2, so maybe you play your 360 more...hmm...unless you played the PC version...hmmm...hrooom.
I'd repair yours/buy a new one, Sony's pushing out hard and has pushed out hard. This is their time, you mind as well replace the PS3 now and wait for the MS stuff later. No reason you can't fix it, and that's cheaper.
Just see if there are any games that you really want to play on it later on, if not just wait till another price drop... Its bound to happen holiday season or later on.
Well, my thoughts are that you should wait for a bit until more games come out then get them instead of getting the PS3 and GoW3 and playing it for like 4 days and beating it. Plus there are so many good games coming out for both the 360 and Wii soon... seriously. There is Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Crackdown 2, and Metro 2033 that are all coming out all during springtime alone on the 360, and the Wii has Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, Red Steel 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Sin and Punishment 2 all in the Spring for the Wii. Seriously, look at that lineup of games. Is that not amazing? And this is all in Springtime, a duration of 3 months!! Considering the only big PS3 game to come out is God of War 3, I think that by getting these 360/Wii games you will have more than enough on your hands. I know I won't be touching my PS3 for months because of all these games.
Go get your PS3 fixed, man. Warranty, cash, whatever method's clever. It's so not worth not having one considering all the good games that are coming out, and old games that you might not have played yet that you'll want to pick up in the future. You'll regret it if you don't have a PS3. A wise man once said that the only way to play games this generation is to have all three consoles. That wise man was right.
" @RoujinX: My Nephew was over and he knock it off my table. "If that were my nephew he would never be invited to my house again. I have a 360 and PS3... I never really play my PS3 but I'm going to start playing both consoles equally (GOW III FTW)
If it broke due to human error of somebody kicking it or something, get a new one, that system never did anything harmful to you. But if it RROD/YLOD, or whatever error that was a defect from the system, then yes say fuck them and move on.
" @spankingaddict: Believe it or not this is my 2nd PS3, My first was a 40GB and this one I just broke was a 60GB. To the fix it option, no warranty. "wow... that sucks...
Your nephew wouldn't exist if he were mine. Just kidding. But man would I be pissed. Get another PS3. There are some amazing games that have come out this year for the PS3 only, like Heavy Rain and God of War III. If you plan on getting Final Fantasy XIII, it looks better on the PS3. Plus there are many games that came out last year that you might not have that are only on the PS3, like Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, and Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. Get another PS3, and don't let your nephew near it ever again.
Everyone here agrees that your nephew's parents should pay for it. You should talk to his parents and at least get them to pay for the repairs. You can't just go to ppl's houses and start breaking their electronics and not paying for it.
That really stinks. Well it determines what kind of player you are. Do you pick Ps3 over Xbox 360, or Xbox 360 over Ps3? For Wii to me that is like a fun family system, I would just determine between Ps3 and Xbox 360.
My PS3 died too due to the stupid firmware update kiling my blu ray lens, i wouldnt have been that bothered since i have the Wii and 360 but there are a few decent exclusives im missing out on, namely Heavy Rain and Uncharted. I figure like me you have a tonne of games to play on teh 360 in the meantime, might be worth holding off until you see a package deal with a limited edition console or something.
If someone else broke your system, they should be made to pay for it. I appreciate it was probably an accident, but that would be the only right thing to do.
Don't go without a PS3 right now. The line-up's been awesome.
" My PS3 recently broke and well I wanted to know your guys opinions. Should go and buy a new one or buy a few good games for my Wii and 360? "Next time take 3 year guarantee, i always do that with my consoles. Giving few hundred $ or euros and not taking 3 years guarantee is moronic in my mind, srry.
If the one that broke was one of the older models, I'd opt for one of the new Slim models. But if the cost of a repair (if you can get it repaired....I dunno where I'd take a busted PS3 w/o warranty) are lower than the cost of a Slim, repair it. Of the current generation of hardware the PS3 will hold the most value through the future. I dunno about you guys but I'll still be toying around with my PS3 far into the next gen (like my old Xbox.) I'll drop in a 1TB HDD eventually and run some homebrew Linux for HTPC fun. If not that I'll at least be using it as a blu-ray player.
" My PS3 recently broke and well I wanted to know your guys opinions. Should go and buy a new one or buy a few good games for my Wii and 360? "Continue buying new games for the 360 or Wii. Until all your consoles are dead, no reason to go buy another. Especially if you don't have a collection of PS3 games that will gather dust.
I've owned a PS3 for a little over a year now, and it collects dust. There simply isnt anything on the PS3 that interests me, Heavy Rain looks OK but I think I'll wait till the price goes down. And nine out of ten multiplatform games look better on 360 anyways.
My 60gb model broke too.
I couldn't find an external HDD in my local retailers that were less than $100 that had the memory space. Also, the dude at Sony told me to send it in for a new Slim would cost $150, including shipping.
So I thought, fuck it, and went off and ordered a used PS3 Slim over Amazon. I mean it's a $50 difference, I've been meaning to get a new controller anyways.
It depends how invested in your PS3 you are? do you own alot of games? because if you do, and if you dont get a new PS3 or get it fixed, youll have alot of unplayable games.
" My PS3 recently broke and well I wanted to know your guys opinions. Should go and buy a new one or buy a few good games for my Wii and 360? "
Well that is a question you should pose yourself.
Do you really miss your ps3? Or will some games for the xbox and wii ease your mind of your loss?
