no the Dvd/cd drive inside is region locked. If you live in the US or Canada then it will be Region 1 and only play games that are that region, check the ps3 box if you are unsure.

PS3 games themselves are region free, however the DLC items for the game usually are not.
Example: If you buy a North American game and you want to buy the additional DLC for it you would need to buy it from a north American PSN Store.
If you buy the DLC from a European or Asian PSN Store, chances are it wont work with your copy of the game.
