Anyways, I am looking to expand the number of games I can access.  I was wondering if there a direction that you guys can help with.  Also help highlight some features that will keep me interested in the system itself. Also, provide some advice on games you would suggest on adding or removing from the list.

Go PS3, it'll last you longer and it has better graphics than Xbox. Plus there's BlueRay. And methinks more exclusives in the future.

Dude you didn't mention like a ton of 360 games on that list. No Alan Wake? No Splinter Cell? No Mass Effect 2? What about Reach? or Fable 3? Itagaki's got something new cooking up for 360. Also, Mistwalker's next may not be Blue Dragon 2 - well, their concept art for it doesn't look very Blue Dragon-y. Also, I wouldn't hold your breath for a Vesperia PS3 NA version... that game is 1.5 years old now and growing. That studio is already hard at work on a new Tales game for the Wii.

Just go by the exclusives you like. I'm guessing that from not mentioning the above 360 titles you're already inclined towards a PS3.

Multi-platforms are marginally better on 360 with a few exceptions that the 360 version is much better (but that sometimes has to do with online issues, too)

But the PS3 has a Blu Ray. If you care about seeing your favorite actor's pores, then I guess that would be an option to consider.

But the 360 has a larger online community and better service.

    But then... PS3 HAS DEMON'S SOULS :D

    Neither, they both suck.
    JK

I had both consoles, and I noticed the failure rate of the 360 to be aweful - going through 5 360's I decided to go with the PS3.
Not comparitng games (this opinion is very biased), I would say the better overall product is the PS3.

In terms of Multimedia Support, the PS3 wins handsdown. You can get a free utility that will let you play any content (MKV, OGG, FLAC, you name it).
The bluray support is nice, as it allows you to watch the current-standard movies.
The internet support is also good, although sometimes troublesome on a big screen.

I like the interface of the PS3 much better as well - it is not ad-driven like the new xbox dashboard.

I think you'll probably enjoy the overall variety of the PS3 over the 360.  And, while a lot of JRPGs are available for the 360, many are now being ported over to the PS3 with bonus content.  But, if you are price conscious, all of those 360 JRPGs can be had cheap now, really cheap if used. Some will need to be loaded to the HDD to work reasonably well, though.  When it comes to multiplatform these days, there isn't a huge difference in quality.  There used to be but these days it's mostly either/or.  However, XBL still has a stronger online community than PSN, so keep that in mind.

I don't see it on your list so maybe you don't care too much about it, but for me, the 360 in 2010 is Mass Effect 2, Crackdown 2, and Splinter Cell: Conviction.  The PS3 will be my console for God of War 3, Lost Guardian, Final Fantasy XIII, White Knight Chronicles, ModNation Racers, Split/Second, etc...

Both systems are about equal in performance and I'm pretty sure that Microsoft has improved the reliability of the newer 360s, so it comes down to games and little things like online community, blu-ray, which motion-control has you interested, and do you want any backwards compatibility.

Indeed.  There are some games I am not interested in.  Although there could be some games I could be missing out on.  If you feel like more can be added, feel free to inform me.

I like the PS3 exclusives more than the 360 exclusives so I say go with the PS3. Plus I'm just familiar with the controller because I've owned the PS1 and PS2. Then again I might be saying this because I'm not such a big shooter fan.

Get a PS3... you will not regret it. Better exclusives, Blu-Ray, built in wireless, upgradable harddrive (I have 640GB in mine), free online, a built in web browser and tons more.

If I had to choose one or the other I'd go with my ps3 as I prefer the exclusives and don't like paying for xbox live.  Kinda depends if you're really into fps though as 360 is probably better for that because of live and the controller.

-I don't know what Alan Wake is and whether it is being released or not.
-I am not sure how Splinter Cell will play out.  If it is a Shooter and plays with Dual analog control, no thanks.  I do prefer playing First Person shooters and third person shooters on the PC and second with the Wii.  The same reason why Killzone 2, Resistance 1 and 2, Halo 3, Halo reach and Gears of War 1 and 2 is not on that list.  Although if a game is super awesome and easy to play, I might play it otherwise.
-I forgot about Mass Effect, I'll add that. In addition to Mass Effect 2.
-Please elaborate on why Xbox Live is better than Playstation Network and highlight as much details as you can.

I'd say PS3. You're missing a few heavy hitters on your lists.. Uncharted 1 & 2, Heavy Rain, Halo 3 and ODST, Killzone 2, Mass Effect etc.

As somebody who owned a 360, then bought a PS3 expecting it to be a better experience, I was let down. Yes the PS3 does give you a better package for the dollar, built in wifi, free online, I wont mention the crappy web browser that Im sure nobody actually uses.. But the Xbox is catching up in terms of utility features, they've now got streaming 1080p, Netflix, ect. With all the streaming services becoming avaliable shortly, I think you'd see that physical media (having the actual disc of a movie, game ect) will be extinct soon, so having an actual bluray player isnt all its cracked up to be, plus you have to have the funds to buy your bluray movies, which right now are fairly expensive.

I could sit and talk about exclusives, but I wont because thats purely opinionated. Some would say that the online play is better because of the 'paid XBL services', but its not. XBL and PSN multi-player is nearly identical, although there is more content available on the XBL marketplace.  btw, I think paying for XBL is completely bogus.

Sadly, the PS3 boasts more power, but for some reason the developers havne't been able to harness that power. Take a look here under the Head2Head, and you'll see that 9 out of 10 games will look better on the Xbox. When multiplatform games come out, like Assassins Creed 2, I buy it for the Xbox simply because the 360 has a better track record of better looking games. Honestly, I have no multiplatform games for ps3 because of that, I only own ps3 exclusives.

And dont listen to the people who talk about the RROD on Xbox, that problem is no longer existant on newer consoles.

As much as I hate to promote Microsoft, I think they've got the better package. Yes, if you want some additional features that the PS3 has included in their base model (ie. wifi) you will have to pay for it. But if i had to choose 1 console to keep, it'd be my Xbox, I just feel they do more for their product then Sony does.

I was thinking of adding Uncharted but I wasn't too keen on Third Person Shooters + analog sticks.  Unless of course if the game is that good that it is worth sucking down.
Not sure what Heavy Rain is dealing with.
I played Halo on the PC.  I don't think I need Halo 3 or ODST after playing those games.
Not really that interested in Killzone 2

I am looking for people's opinion so feel free to make some input.  There are actual problems with the newer Xboxes, however, I feel like I'll just suck it up for now.

@Godwind: You don't know about Alan Wake!? Well, It's a survival horror game that's been in the works for about 5 years now - it's finally releasing this spring. Go look at some recent videos of it, Gametrailers had some pretty good new exclusive ones. You should really check it out. I don't know how to link otherwise I would show them to you here. Splinter Cell is NOT a shooter - have you heard of the other games in the genre? Sure, it's a third person game, but I would say that MGS4 is more of a shooter than Splinter Cell. You really need to use stealth and be patient in these games - you're given like 2 different guns and a whole bunch of gadgets and you infiltrate buildings and do all sorts of cool moves. Again, I would give you a video but I dunno how ta link! This is the longest it's taken to make a Splinter Cell game so I'm thinking they're putting a lot of hard work into it. I have extremely high hopes. It's just a really intense series which nails the "sneaking" genre. As far as the Online Services, you get what you pay for. XBL has a bunch of social features like party chat and mics are widespread, it has the most amount of content available, and in my opinion it has a far greater connection stability. I'm not saying that PSN is unstable or anything, It's just with all my experiences with PSN, there is a lot of delay whereas my XBL connection is excellent. Even in Demon's Souls, I find it extremely hard to connect to others and the lag is absolutely terrible - people will backstab you when you see them right in front of you. The same went for BlazBlue when I had first owned it for the PS3 (D-pad preference, i soon learned to love analog anyway :P).

    -I'll Add Splinter Cell.
-I am not a fan of the Horror Genre, so Alan Wake may not be suit for my tastes. I'll try Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for the Cube to see if I get any "chills and thrills."  Otherwise, Alan Wake probably won't be included.
-I'll add the Xbox Live features with party chat even though I have no real friends.  Oh wells.

Here's my best effort for comparing the 2:

Multiplatform games usually look and run better on the 360, due to developer incompetencies.

PS3 exclusives usually look better than XBOX 360's exclusives, but as a fact of actually being better, they're probably around the same based on tastes.

The 360's hardware decisions suck.  No Blu-Ray, high failure rates, no Bluetooth, proprietary chargers that aren't 100% USB, huge power-brick, high cost for hard drives and wireless, almost every accessory comes in only white, which is complete bullshit if you own a black Elite... etc.

A lot of just regular USB accessories and cheap PS1/2 PC adapters work on the PS3, like old fight sticks even.  Almost nothing but licensed shit works in the XBOX 360's half-assed USB ports.

I prefer the XBOX 360's controller, especially for shooters, but it's D-pad sucks beyond anything that has ever sucked before.  This is purely a preference thing.  My girlfriend has super petite hands and just cannot deal with the 360's controller after a while and she prefers the PS3's controller immensely.  I can go both ways honestly, but again, prefer the XBOX 360 controller in the end.

XBOX Live is better than PSN.  It has party/cross game chat, better VOIP in my opinion, you can send Voice Messages to offline friends, and is generally faster for things like downloads... but XBOX Live costs money and PSN doesn't.  More people actually talk on XBOX Live than on PSN (which is both a good and a bad thing).  As far as just playing games online, they are both exactly the same.

The PS3 makes for a better media server for your TV, which doesn't make much sense because Microsoft makes Windows Media Center and should have made the XBOX 360 be badass for this.

The PS3 has my #1 most favorite game of this generation, hands-down.  That game is called Disgaea 3.

I'm still paying through Tales of Vesperia on the XBOX 360 right now, and I'm currently at the end of Chapter 2 of 3.  I must say that this game is really good... but there is a chance for a PS3 port, which looks to destroy this version.

XBOX 360 Achievements can be synced to Giant Bomb and, as of right now, PS3 Trophies cannot.

I don't really know what to tell you... because they both have their good and their bads.  Hope this helps none-the-less!

@Godwind: I find that third person shooters work much better with controllers. They were just examples though, there are plenty more.

Well I can say this, I always end up sounding like a fanboy but I try to stick with the truth, I would have kept my 360 if it didn't die on me twice and my third and newest model was breaking so I sold it and went PS3, I now have over 20 games and couldn't be happier, I love the selection and the quality of there products, Uncharted 2 is amazing, Killzone 2 is amazing, Little Big Planet is fucking awesome, and I can almost guaranteed there future exclusives will be great.
This shit about XBL blowing away PSN is bull, yeah they have a few extra features which you have to pay money for which you could spend on 1-2 more games.

If you compare first party titles though, I'd say hands down the PS3 is better looking than the 360. Third party titles are hindered because of the architecture of the systems being so different.  It's nothing new, but if Dragon Age is any indication than perhaps things are changing.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MakQpMSKP7I&feature=PlayList&p=4D7DB9492DD0601A&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=100
Also the pixel comparison for the systems speaks for itself.

Anyway, I've found that I, personally, enjoy the PS3 a bit more than the 360 at this point. The exclusives Sony is bringing out are more interesting to me and overall more impressive. All around package wise, you get the most out of the purchase of the PS3 due to the Blu-ray player, free online, easier to display media files than the 360.

The 360 is a fine system, if Microsoft could fix their failure rate it'd be excellent, but as it stands that systems hardware is totally unreliable. I've gone through 5 myself since launch, the 5th one just died after buying it last Christmas.

It will cost you more in the long run to go with a 360 but if you have more friends playing on that system that's where to go.

IT depends on what you want to get out of this.  personally I feel if you are in it JUST for games, go with the Xbox, but if you will use the PS3's other features, like the web browser and media server, then it is the better choice.  Also take in to account, do you need wireless?  That costs more on 360, but for PS3 you have to buy HD cables if you want to have Hi Def.  Other than that which games do you want to play?

As an owner of both consoles, I prefer to play my multi-platform games on Xbox360.  I prefer the 360 controller over the PS3 and I think the online is better, with a MUCH larger install base, even though it does cost $.

Uncharted 2 is a well polished and greatly directed Tomb Raider game.  Its a great game, but nothing that hasnt been done before.

Depends. For me, I only have wireless in my apartment, so built in wifi in the PS3 was a huge plus. Also, I watch a ton of movies so the BluRay was a huge selling point for me too. For me, things like Halo and Gears I have fun playing locally with friends, which I can do at one of like 5 friend's houses who have the thing, and the PS3 exclusives intrigue me more. inFAMOUS and Uncharted are excellent and overall, for me, the differences between two versions in cross platform games are kind of insignificant.

All in all, it depends on what you want out of your system and what works best with your internet and home theater set up.

@Godwind: PS3 has Blu-ray, built in WIFI, a standard 2.5 inch SATA hard drive (i.e. you can upgrade it yourself) is an excellent DVD upscaler and is quiet. The 360 has a better back catalog and a much better online community.  If you care about online gaming and talking to your friends while gaming then the 360 is the choice.

I would probably go with the PS3. Has the blu-ray drive built in wireless. Good options for streaming media (360 has that too). Free online play. Some good and upcoming exclusive games.

i don't have anything against any systems, but i'm going to have to say go for the PS3, because it will (supposedly) last longer and the exclusives are great, too. but really, go with the system that has the most games you're interested in, which is why i'm getting a 360, too.

It depends if you like the Xbox exclusives more than the PS3s or vice-versa. Another thing is online payment on xbox while its free on the ps3.

It all depends on the exclusive games you care about.  I personally think the 360 has better exclusives but, the PS3 has some good ones as well.  It also depends on if you care about Blu-Ray or not.

@Luke: saying more people talk on XBL is such bullshit. i have never found that true. i never understood what the bitching about it was for anyways. people use the lame ass excuse that if nobody is talking then you mine as well be playing against robots, well thats bullshit to because there is a HUGE difference between playing bots andplaying people wether they talk or not. and i always use my mic and everytime i go online to play a match in whatever game, be it mw2 or socom, atleast half the room is using their mics and more usually turn theirs on if you ask people to.
when you're playing a game like team death match on cod4, whats the point of having strangers bitch about things in your ear anyways. who wants to hear a bunch of strangers bitch about anything for that matter?

multiplat games don't mean shit. you got 360 dev's making shitty ports to ps3 all the time.
ps3's exclusives blow 360's exclusives out of the water.

if you want platforming and more adventurey games go for the PS3 I buy all my multiplatform releases on my 360 because of points and how much easier it is to play with my friends online... Uncharted and Uncharted 2 are both amazing games. I hardly buy anything for my PS3 only the exclusive stuff but I guess if you only had one  and you don't really care for shooters  the PS3 is the best choice...

@TwoOneFive: That's just my personal experience from playing on both systems.  Generally, I find that more people use their mics on XBOX Live than on PSN.  My guess is that it's mostly due to the PS3 not packing-in a mic with the system, which XBOX 360 does.  I did say it can be both a blessing and a curse, depending on the situation (and thank gawd for mute).

    @Godwind:
    • Modnation Racers is a minicart racing game that will be available via PSN.  Like Little Big Planet, it will give the players the ability to build there own tracks and modify existing ones.  I don't know if you remember, but the developers did a live presentation at the Sony E3 this past summer where they built a race course from scratch in 3 minutes. E3 LINK
    • Split/Second is another racing game that falls into the Burnout style of play.  In this game, the racers have the ability to alter the course in order to gain the advantage over their competitors.  The lead car may trigger an event during the race which causes a bridge to collapse behind them, or another car might trigger an action which causes a water tower to fall onto the course ahead slowing down the lead racers.  The game looks very pretty and gives a good sense of speed.  I'm not a fan of the GT/Forza sim racers, but I love the high energy arcade race games.  This is one of those.  S/S LINK

I'm just gonna throw in a +1 for PS3 for reasons mostly already stated in this thread. I'm a much bigger fan of PS3 exclusives and I have a pretty capable PC so I can just play some of the "exclusive" 360 games on there. I do own a 360 but at this point its mostly just for SFIV and waiting for SSFIV and Ninety-Nine Nights 2 to come out. Well that is when I buy a new one because it red ringed on me again a month or two ago. :(

From your list of games, I'd say you sound more like a PS3 owner than a 360 owner. For one thing, a lot of those games are single player, so if you aren't into multiplayer the PS3 is the way to go. That said, the general concensus is that downloading stuff over PSN is never as easy or quick as using Xbox Live, and patching games can be a massive bummer. 360 hardware failure is much improved, but the PS3 is still more reliable. To be honest, if you're even at all interested in Blu Ray, get a PS3. Simple as.

For the record, I own a 360 and absolutely love it, best console I ever owned, but I would love to own a PS3 as well.

It depends a lot on what your friends have, if it wasn't for that I would recommend the PS3, but as someone who as both consoles and most of my friends have 360s that's my console of choice for multiplatforms
