What PS1 games do you recommend?
Those sound good...although drop Gran Tursimo and get A Spec on PS2
Get FF 7, 8 and 9....the rest of the FF games you could get better versions on a DS or GBA. MGS is a must. Fear Effect was one my personal favs, although I bet its SUPER dated now, (I fear rge MoH games may feel that way as well)
Parasite Eve rocks as well, as far as RE 2 goes the dual shock edition would be all you needed...and Survivor suuuuucks
Dont bother with the C&C games, better on PC
Dino Crisis was cool, but I remember getting stuck in a spot where I couldn't progress any further because I was trapped in a room with a bunch of dinosaurs I had to kill, and I didn't have enough ammo. That was mainly an issue of only using one game save, though.
I'm going to be honest with you. I really never felt that there was all that many PS1 games worth playing. A lot of pretty good games, but I don't think there was all that many great stand-out titles.
I get the feeling you don't know what Metal Gear Solid: Integral is. Unless you are a super hardcore Metal Gear fan/collector then there isn't any point in getting that. It is essentially the English version of the game ported back to Japanese. And VR missions is just that, VR missions. Not really worth the time unless you are really into the MGS VR training mode. Or just want to see a 50 foot tall genome soldier. Also, there aren't many major differences between Resident Evil 2 and the Dual Shock edition. DS supports the remodeled PS2 controller and has a extra minigame. No need to get both of them. I believe that the RE1 director's cut disc also has the original game on it, so just go with that version. Also, DC is better.
Avoid FF VIII like the plague. Unless you looooooove tedious gameplay and Twilight style plotting. FF IX, however, is terrific and has one of the most lovable characters in any game. Vivi is reason enough alone to play that game. FF Tactics is a game that I consider a must play and is arguably the best Final Fantasy game ever. Get it!
Command and Conquer, Quake, and Warcraft are games that are best played on PC, so you may want to use something like Dosbox to play them. I'm not going to tell you how to get the games, but I am sure you can find a way.
Other games you should check out:
SILENT HILL
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Oddworld: Abe's Exodus
Parasite Eve I and II
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Twisted Metal I and II
XENOGEARS
Vagrant Story
Legend of Dragoon
Crash Bandicoot 2

Parappa the Rapper. Gran Turismo is shit boring. I would say Castlevania Symphony of the Night, but that's only because I'm selling it for three million zenni on Ebay.
- Crash Bandicoot series
- Klonoa
- Tomb Raider 1 + 2
- Jumping Flash 1 + 2
- Rayman
- Mega Man 8
RPGs
- Final Fantasy IX
- Suikoden 1 + 2
- Chrono Cross
- Vagrant Story
Action/Adventure
- Metal Gear Solid
- Mega Man Legends 1 + 2
Vehicle Combat/Racing
- Warhawk
- Wipeout
- Jet Moto
- Twisted Metal 1 + 2
- Destruction Derby
- Gran Turismo series
- Ridge Racer
- Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit
Xenogears, definitely. Also, FF8 is a great game, Don't believe the haters. Also, Chrono Cross ( you should hook up your old snes and play chrono trigger first though)
Avoid these. The emulation of the 8 and 16-bit Squaresoft games to the PS1 were horrible. Very long load times, bad sound compression. FFT is also much better on the PSP, it's not worth getting the PS1 version.-Final Fantasy Chronicles
-Final Fantasy Collection
-Final Fantasy Origins
-Final Fantasy Tactics
You should track down Bushido Blade, Rival Schools, Suikoden, Wild Arms.
The PS1 was probably the Golden Age of the JRPG:
Final Fantasy 7,8,9
FF Tactics
Grandia
Xenogears
WILD ARMS
Breath of Fire 3, 4
Brave Fencer Musashi (more of an action RPG, but still awesome)
Suikoden 2
Alundra
And there is one little known series that is a mostly a platformer with light RPG elements and this is the amazing TOMBA! and TOMBA! 2. Man I would love to play the first one again. I actually have the second one that I can play on my PS2, but for some reason the first TOMBA! is one of the few PS1 games that will not work on the PS2.
