First of all, im a die hard Metalhead. 
 
I heard of Lil' Wayne like a year or two ago.. Sounded like another mentally challenged rapper spitting random words around in a "cool" manner while flashing his underwear and making teenage girls cream their panties while male music fans call him an idiot on the internet.  
talking about having his lollipop licked and shit,  i just put him in the "uninteresting musician" slot and never looked back. ( since i tend to dislike that shit, rather than actively HATE it) 
 
So yesterday, for some reason i looked him up on Wikipedia, and i read that he made a rock album  "Rebirth" back in March .. so i listened to the album's singles, and i immediately FELL INLOVE with this fucked up tune called "Prom Queen" 
  
 

Not only is the dark rap sound dipped in good old hard rock riffs (and very enthusiastic and dominant drums) with a touch of auto-tune really extraordinary and captivating and addicting,  but the lyrics are very accessable and moving (something i personally KINDA can relate to).  
And to top it all the song's music video is brilliantly directed and goes too well with the words.  
 
 ive watched this music video like twelve times now.. ive never done that before.
  
   Edit: before you listen to this you need to fricking relax and  take a rest from all the over-analyzing and shit.. enjoy this brief piece of music for fucks sake and stop overthinking MUSIC, its not literature :)
P.S. even if you dont like the song, the video is worth it.. good story going on.

I'm a Lil' Wayne fan (unlike most of the people on this forum). I think that his Rebirth album is basically garbage, as he plays against his strength (being a rapper) and tries to be a rock star/singer. It not only doesn't work, but he fails miserably at it. "Prom Queen" is probably the biggest offender out of all of them. 
 
Ok, there are two good songs on that album. One's basically a normal rap/hip-hop song with Eminem called "Drop the World". Not expecting you to like that one. The other's a interpolation of the song "She's On Fire" from the Scarface soundtrack. He adds his vocals and distorted guitar and it somehow works because of how raunchy everything is. But everything else is terrible. 
 
You seriously can't judge Lil' Wayne on this album. That's like saying you judge Steven Spielberg solely on the quality of The Terminal.

You can not be serious.... There is no way. I love both rap and rock if it's done by talented musicians/rappers, but this.... Lil' Wayne is shit no matter what genre he's expressing himself in.

YouTube changed again the graphics on its player? Damn.  I was about to say that this is not worse than most crap out there (although it's not better either), but then I heard the Auto Tune at the end... urgh. I'll stick to my playlist.

 thats the thing, that music isnt exactly 'my taste' and i think Lil Wayne is kinda full of shit, but at the end of the day its MUSIC and those shitty artists can create some interesting songs.. 
Kinda sad how everyone on the internet is so bloody serious and cant enjoy a simple song for what it is.. they focus on the wrong parts, and keep hating so passionately !     
The problem here isnt that you disagree. i love that you disagree, its spices up the conversation and the exchange of opinions that we're having.. its just that people's responses are too aggressive and their minds are already made up.

I'm honestly not that surprised that a bunch of people don't like his music, but it's all good. Some people are fans, some people aren't, some people have differing views on whether a song is terrible or awesome or whatever. No big.

I'm not so much a fan of Lil' Wayne but judging from his past albums, he has at least some rap talent. When I heard he would  be trying to incorporate rock I thought "good for him" but then I heard the music. He uses autotune way too much because he can't sing normally and the guitar in his songs is really bad.

Judging an entire genre of music based on the rodeo clowns who populate the cover of Vibe magazine is simply foolish, and while you're entitled to maintain your opinion, it is still ignorant nonetheless. It's no different from someone who decides to try metal, listens to Linkin Park and Disturbed, and then decides that all metal is just a bunch of whiny, pompous troglodytes hammering away at their instruments in an attempt to craft any noise bearing even the faintest resemblance to music.

I know next to nothing about metal. I've never avoided it, I've been showed a few songs and enjoy some disliked others, but I grew up around classic rock and then moved into rap in my early teens. Sure I have some predisposition to believe that all metal is about Satan, but ( and I don't want you to gloss over this part because it directly relates to you) I DON'T PUBLICLY CONDEMN IT AS BEING FULL OF SATAN WORSHIPERS AND SUICIDAL DOUCHEBAGS. I am intelligent enough to realize that there must be quality metal about all facets of life.
