Your argument is bullshit.  You don't think Zac Efron or any of these other people worked hard to get where they are?  It's just as easy as walking onto a movie set and doing it?  Yes, some people are in the right place at the right time, but very few.  Most people start at the bottom and work their ass off to get into the entertainment industry.  It's an insanely difficult industry to get into.  I'm a musician, and I work my ass off for every dollar I make off of my music, and I don't make much of it.  But if by some miracle I ever do go on to make millions of dollars, I will deserve it.  And if you say otherwise then clearly you don't have a clue.

I don't like to pirate things, especially music. The media I enjoy is something I'm perfectly fine handing money over for. I would understand you say, pirating a piece of garbage by people who don't need the money like Grown Ups (I just wouldn't understand you wanting to watch it), but when someone does goodwork they deserve payment.
However, pirating movies--and especially TV shows--is something I'm kinda more neutral on. I have a NetFlix account and feel that if a back-catalog of a show isn't on there, and I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars buying dvds for a show I'm not sure I'm even going to like, I'll pirate it. And hey, it just speeds up my inevitable process of eventually netflixing the show anyways, and gets me watching the show live quicker.

No one is denying you the ability to listen to it or the artists to create it, it's just the idea that you people mastering a guitar is somehow a crowning achievement that puts you above everyone else. Just because someone can write an album all about mythology, it doesn't mean it's better than something more common, shit, I should know, I have an Alesana album on my iPod. So yeah, it is pathetic, crazy and twisted to think that someone who arbitrarily strives to be different deserves to get fame, fortune and riches. "

publishing companies will never learn. they don't care about anything other than the money, and a lot of the time hardworking musicians, actors, developers etc. are punished and aren't given much reward for their hard work due to the greed of publishing companies. pirating isn't really moral at all, but it's one of the very few ways to let these publishers know that hard working people do not want to pay as much for their products, and guess what? the publishers can't even learn from that. they punish legitimately paying customers with intrusive drm, securom, rootkits etc.

a true artist would not care as much if his/her work was being pirated, as it is at least getting out there. but even they understand that if publishers can't sell dvds or cds then they aren't going to get very far, and the big name publishers abuse the fuck out of that.
