This sold me. Never played a Ratchet game but the visuals are stunning which goes a long way with me. Seems pleasant all around, and just a good time. Completely the opposite of Dark Souls 3, so it'll bring some balance.

I want to go back and play the HD collection at some point but I wonder if playing this will make that impossible.

Max Payne 3 is a good game, and the only other person on this site who thought so was Ryan Davis. Everyone else seems to think it's straight up bad, but I think it's got some great rockstar storytelling, style, and some fun shooting.

@kasaioni: you can't compare something that the game intentionally sidelines to something that is part of the game game and you have to take action in order to skip. Yes, it is skipping story by missing the tapes in the same way that you would miss most of the story by skipping cutscenes. No, that is not on Drew.

Didn't realise the objectivity brigade visited Giant Bomb. More accurately, I don't usually read comments for reviews so I wouldn't know.

I can't remember who exactly said it, may have been Jeff, but the best thing for you to do is to understand who is reviewing a game and to know how their views align with yours, and to find reviewers that either align with that or you find interesting. There is no truth to be found in reviews, which are usually opinions on quality.

Personally, I realised since I read Jeff's Metal Gear Solid review back in the day that we value completely different things, and enjoy completely different aspects in games. He hates a lot of games I love. That's OK. Doesn't mean he needs to be "called out" or confronted over having a different opinion.

Also, Jeff is one of the most identifiable examples of being free from publisher influence. Look at his record. I'm sure the lesson he learned over the Kane and Lynch fiasco was to bide his time for 10 years just so he could cash in on some imaginary publisher bucks for rating the competition's game low.

For most of my life I thought Parity was Parody, because Americans often say Ts as Ds. I sounded like an idiot for like 10 years.

Drew may have played this game but he absorbed/understood maybe 1/10th of it. Which is fine, I guess, because Drew plays games very differently than I do but I will say the story has a lot to offer.

I am an hour in to this and am upset about the severe lack of Samantha Kalman and Aurahack so far. Step it up, Giant Bomb!

A good premise and looks really fun. Though I do hope it's not too combat focused.
