Playing more Mario Maker? But there is a Destiny expansion coming. They must have forgotten about that.

The drums in this keep making me think "In the air tonight" is playing.

I can't explain why exactly, but several times in the QL I thought Stein um Stein by Rammstein was starting.

I dunno, as a long-time TW and WH fan, I'm not really feeling TW:WH. It's really stripped back from previous iterations, which is great for newcomers but feels pretty shallow for anyone who's been into the series for a while. Online is also a bit of a mess as balance issues ensure that pretty much only one race (or two, if you're lucky) is playable.

I don't know man, I love Warhammer and I love Total War and this game is like pure crack. I can't stop playing it. Been playing Total War games since the first Shogun and to me, this is the best game in the series since Rome and Medieval 2. It might actually be my favourite overall.

The online I can't comment on, I never played Total War for the multiplayer. I hear Warhammers implementation of the multiplayer is severely lacking though.

The multiplayer implementation has been lacking since Shogun 2. That's not such a big deal. As long as I can quick battle, I'm fine with it. The issue is the balance ensures that Empire is pretty much the only playable faction.

Even in the singleplayer, the lack of unit formations, varied siege battles and management options are kind of a let-down.

I agree with the lack of unit formations. Regarding sieges, considering the last Total War iteration I played was Rome II at launch, I am just pleased to have sieges which actually WORK. They are a little samey, I agree, but I have to admit, even when the option was there to do otherwise I often chose a frontal assault against one wall to focus my efforts.

One other thing I do miss from the previous games is that the battle maps no longer correspond to the actual campaign map location. You can't defend river crossings for example.

All in all though, I find this to be a fantastic entry into the Total War series. I specially enjoy how different the various factions play, which has increased the replayability immensly for me.

Looks as boring as all the other Uncharted games, never understood what people see in this series.

It's really well written and is a lot of fun to play? It's the video game version of something like Indiana Jones or any adventure action movie. You'd to have extremely cynical to not be able to see how would anyone like it.

For me it's the exact opposite. I'm always shocked that people DO like it. 90% of this Quick Look was cutscenes and holding forward to auto platform. The bit of shooting I saw looked like the same shooting I don't like in Uncharted. The fundamentals in the series have always been weak, but people over look it because "zomg it's so shiny and pretty". These games have always coasted by on set pieces and visuals. Take those away and it's just...a sub par shooter and no one would care.

If you take away set pieces from Gears of War or something (best comparison off the top of my head), it's still a super rock solid shooter. Uncharted is basically all sizzle no steak and always has been.

I would take the shooting in Uncharted over the shooting in Gears of War any day of the week. The Gears of War guns do no damage, at all. They have no weight to them, and the characters are sluggish as hell. I played through both GoW 1 and 2 before finally giving up on the series.

Uncharted feels much better to play, but most importantly the characters are likeable and have personalities beyond "i am soldier man", the environments are much nicer to look at, the stories are interesting and fun and the character interactions are fantastic. The gameplay also varies between shooting, traversal and puzzlesolving, unlike Gears of War which only deals in one highly mediocre action sequence after another.

The Gears of War games were alright. They were ok games to play through in co-op with a friend, nothing more. Meanwhile, the Uncharted series is by far the most fun I've had with any series of action games ever.

I'm indecisive on whether or not I should get this game. Naughty Dog hired a white woman to play a black woman in the game and I just think that is a terrible thing to do. Great quick look, overall. But man, I'm still sad they did that.

We're all the same, no predjudice, right? White, black... what does it matter?

Women live lives in which no kind of man can be trusted. Fathers. Brothers. Friends. Neighbors. Strangers. Clerks. Police. Peers. Bosses. Patrons. Clergy. Judges. Elected officials. You take umbrage with women asserting that men are generally not to be trusted, because you yourself are trustworthy? How about understand instead that they aren't talking about you? Not everything is about or directly addressed to you. That kind of "this is about me" attitude is why female comedians are approached this way in the first place. Stand-up material isn't a personal conversation with you if she wasn't talking about you. A brief statement about men being threatening isn't about you if you are in fact not threatening.

I probably should not engage this this conversation ... but whatever. There are statistics out there that show that especially in the US rape and sex-crimes are on the decline, and they have been for ages. "Women live lives in which no kind of man can be trusted" is such a (sorry) fucked up statement. Women are (far) less likely to be the victim of every kind of violent crime (including rape) than men ... So if there is a gender that should trust nobody it's males.

But no male does that because living your life with the expectation to be a victim is a life not worth living. If you worry about that stuff you might as well lock yourself in your house and never leave. This whole notion of "every man is a rapist" is pure fearmongering and honestly destroying the relationship between genders in the long term.

Let me be clear: Rape is a terrible crime, probably the worst crime next to murder. And rapists should be punished hard. But this cultural notion of "there is an evil man thats wants to rape me behind every corner" has to stop, its not true and does way more harm than good.

I was trying to write this exact post and fumbled it badly. Very well put!

@kcin Just because someone perceives something to be the truth, that doesn't mean it is the truth. People have been telling women they are in danger from men for generations. Of course they will believe they are in more danger than men, even though crime statistics show otherwise.

I guess an interesting question would be, if there is indeed no factual evidence that men pose a greater risk to women than they do to other men, WHY have we been telling women to stay away from men and to fear them? I can think of one reason, but it's just speculation.

Further more, when you tell women to be afraid, and that they are being chased by evil rapists lurking around every corner, then you undermine them, their self esteem. Every interaction between man and woman will be viewed through this lens of threat and danger. Needless to say, through this lens, anything can and will be viewed as sinister.

I don't think you understand what she was saying. She isn't saying men aren't allowed to make dirty sex jokes. She is saying men aren't allowed to presume what is and is not acceptable when engaging her based on her material, especially if they don't know her. Just because she has made a sex joke doesn't mean the topic of sex has been personally broached between her and the viewer. She makes dirty sex jokes for a living, so men directly contact her thinking that they can say dirty things to her. She might say, "I can't get laid these days," as a joke in a stand-up act, and men will contact her via Twitter, Facebook, or in person, and say "not sure why you can't get laid ur pretty lol", or, worse, "I'll fuck you right now." That is what she means.

The reason that I know this is what she means is because this is literally the lament of every female comedian. Men take a female stand-up's material to be their actual life story, and misinterpret performance as a private confession, every single day. Jen Kirkman is a successful touring comic of a coupla decades, and she spends a lot of time on Twitter retweeting the kind of bullshit she and other women in general are put through: twitter.com/JenKirkman Additionally, here is a blog that is largely populated by the negative sexually-charged interactions female comedians are put through by men: actualthingstheysaid.tumblr.com/

As far as this "not all men" bullshit: too bad dudes. You are a man, and you are going to be perceived as a threat before anything else. That is the world you live in. That is the world other men have created for you, for everyone. Women have every right to talk generally about men as being threatening, because, in general, men are threats.

Coincidentally, it just so happens that today the hashtag "WhenIWas" is trending on Twitter. The subject? As a woman, at what age were you first (keyword: FIRST) sexually assaulted? https://twitter.com/hashtag/wheniwas?src=hash

Actually, this is no coincidence. Women are speaking out about how the majority of men are threatening every day.

The "actual things they said" blog was interesting. It ranged from straight up sexual assault to "how is that even offensive to anyone?" Not that it's my place to say you can't be offended by something, but this for example:

I was hosting at the FunnyBone and after I brought on the feature and walked off stage the feature said:

“Give it up for her. I call her "her” because she told me her name and I forgot it. So we’ll just call her “Becky”. Give it up for Becky!“

I think if you're around comics, they are going to make jokes, sometimes at your expense. It's all based on context though, I suppose. If that joke was preceded by a bunch of other shit, then that's different, but taken on its own, that strikes me as harmless.

I really don't like how this game looks, but it looks like it would be fun to play.
