  • I have been playing this mod for months. Unfortunately, in its current state the hacker and skids have turned this immersive survival title into nothing but frustration. I will revisit DayZ when the hacking is addressed, if not eliminated.

  • Episode 2

  • The plot unfolds to be one of the most cerebral shooters in recent years. There were a number of emotionally driven moments when the game had you questioning your own actions. The moral and humane dilemmas that arise within the plot, I imagine to be a all too common occurrence during combat with a undefined enemy.

On the technical side the game has more than its fair share of flaws: graphically and mechanically. The game play comes across generic and stale; it's a third person, cover based shooter, with controls identical to Gears of War. Where it lacks with innovation in game play, it makes up in narrative and pivotal point plot points. Also, the transformation of your squad that takes place over the course of this game is vital. It is truly a crucial supporting element that you must experience with these characters and supports the momentum of the narratives gradual downward spiral.

Spec Ops: The Line does a fantastic job of obscuring that incredibly fine line of your humanity, and your sanity. Questions of your own morality will arise toward the end of this game, and how emotions can make any of us lose our grip on reality as we start painting our own surreal ideal.

  • DayZ Mod

  • Suda 51 you magnificent bastard!

  • I love shooting real weapons and this game satiated that urge. The ballistics were incredibly accurate when you turned on windage, elevation, and distance. The plot isn't anything that hasn't been attempted before in a WW2 game. The movement and and sneaking mechanic were faulty at times, but the draw for me was the detailed ballistics system. There is just something so satisfying dropping your intended target hundreds of yards in the distance with all of those variables at play.

I plan to keep this title in my library for when I get that sniping itch that is all too common, and the range is unavailable.

  • Vanquish-ed?

  • Followed! The game-play is what you expect from the COD franchise: smooth, fast, routine, and genuinely, dull.I found myself with "FOLLOW" text behind me, on too many occasions- the path is just that blatant throughout most of the game. When they say this is a "roller coaster" they are not too far off, honestly, this game could be played on rails and with a light gun given it's claustrophobic nature and utter lack of freedom. It's disappointing that the impressively rich globetrotting environments are lost through the bullet train like sequences that pace the game's narrative (a limited story mind you, completed in only 4.5 hours.)

Finished with the main campaign, I turned to the multilayer, only to find the same diluted, arena style, arcade-like combat with plenty of progress bars to fill. Getting a distinct sense of deja vus, the draw that was palpable in earlier titles was completely absent.

  • Back to where the competitive online obsession began.

  • This eerie ominous indie puzzle-platformer honestly impressed me and captured my genuine interest with your character's awakening. The absence of color partnered with it's insidious child like denizens made you question your every step. Despite the masses shouting how over hyped this title is I enjoyed my brief stint in Limbo.

  • Finished - This is an adults playground with a whimsical story arc, pop culture, with hysterical gaming references interspersed. Loved everything SR3 would throw at me. It's the bombastic vulgar getaway one needs after a bout with Dark Souls.

  • YOU DEFEATED! Game of the year 2011~!

  • Shooter of the year IMO. The story line did become quite diluted towards the end; but there is no denying the combat/shooting felt incredibly fluid. Together those mechanics amplified the game-play to a level I have not experienced this whole year in the FPS genre. The setting, character design, and art direction was a refreshing step away from a market dominated by the military shooter of today.

  • Escaped the Island- I loved the picturesque resort setting with the contrasting limb severing gore-fest that envelopes this title. Although the scope of the exploration progressively narrowed, I couldn't help but get lost in the incredibly satisfying melee combat that drives Dead Island.

  • Fin- Mediocre squad based tactical shooter at best.

  • Mission Accomplished- Completed in under five hours, with the exception of a couple trophies that need additional play-throughs. I really enjoyed this game, despite it's brevity. The weapon sounds gave the arsenal some weight, and the continuous military jargon between you and your squad mates really aided with the immersion level. I also appreciated the recoil patterns compared to other military shooters; fire discipline was required and having shot some of these weapons IRL made them feel authentic.

The game does have flaws- but what game doesn't? In particular, I witnessed Taliban spawning behind a distant rock, and that did sort of break the game for a moment sadly.

Medal of Honor is my ideal military shooter and it has all the trappings of what I have come to expect of this genre. COD honestly can take a backseat because MOH is driving and I'm riding passenger with a pump shotty.

  • Finished- Wow, what an unbelievable experience this game was. My love of history, thrilling gun play, and platforming was greatly satisfied by this title. I should of listened to the masses and played this much sooner.

  • Undying: Since 2007 I have had the most enjoyable off and on relationship with this niche class based shooter. The personality, simplicity, and chaotic game play at the core is what makes it so damn entertaining. Even without breaking down each character type and individual strategy; this game just satiates my FPS cravings whenever I get that low grumble. And, I bet the majority of you know what I'm talkin' about.

  • The art style and platforming similar to Mirrors Edge fused into this team class based FPS is what had my focus since last E3; but sadly this title fell extremely short of my expectations. Weapon stat diversity and balancing, along with primitive AI all contributed to an overall lackluster purchase.

  • Completed: This unique chapter of the spelunking, surprisingly modest bombshell, takes you through all the familiar vistas you would expect from this title. The new perspective and game play was welcoming. Physic based puzzles were laborious and hardly taxing, while gun play was reduced to circle strafe and spam. It was a Steam sale purchase, so I do believe I got my money's worth.

  • Campaign: Finished - Set pieces and narrative were on par with a COD from Treyarch; however, my last experience with WAW (save data and trophies were deleted upon completion) I will not be grinding this particular iteration on Veteran difficulty, eff that.

    Multiplayer: Open ended

  • Done- Steam punk shmup? Loved it, hopefully a sequel is in development. I need the OST to be released ASAP!

  • Finished- Combat is repetitive, but fun. Don't bother with the one dimensional narrative.

  • Completed- really enjoyed the bullet hell platform fusion.
