I've been dicking around with Photoshop CS3 trying to learn some basics, and I can't even comprehend how people make cool, original stuff like this. Like, I can do some basic color correction stuff for photos (white balancing and all that), and some rudimentary photo editing (dumb shit like putting Goro into the background of an OK Go music video screenshot), but I don't know what the workflow of creating something like that awesome textured cut-out look. If it's not too much to ask, would you have any general tips, or even just what tools within Photoshop you used? Thanks.

First thing I did when I got back from work yesterday was grab a beer and poured one out for him.

I have had the same user picture since I first joined... until now. My new icon is the Ryan Davis from my set of "BombSquad Duders as LucasArts adventure game characters." I tried to put little jokes/details into each sprite, but the "Fuck Jeff" shirt on Ryan is the gag I liked the most.

I was wondering what Alex and the Harmonix guys were talking about on Twitter this morning... I certainly wasn't expecting it to be anything like this :-(

I've started going down that road and I must warn you, costs can add up really quickly if you're not careful/willing to make compromises.

In his defense, he also seems to be pretty reliable when it comes to delivering a solid product. But you're not wrong about his budgeting.
