@benpack If you are a big DKC2 fan, you should definitely check out the Yooka-Laylee sequel, it is secretly a very good DKC game, the movement mechanics are basically taken as-is. It has some great level design and the over world itself has a lot of interesting puzzles.

Yeah, been playing it the last week or so, I was very impressed with the quality of the game. And Vinny is not wrong, it is surprisingly difficult; I was kinda thrown off by it, even as someone who is a long-time fan of those games.

I really like all the new mask mechanics and extra playable characters they have in this one. If Activision wants to have Toys for Bob make a new Spyro as well, I would be all for it, clearly they know what they're doing.

This kinda feels like if Katana Zero was in first person, combined with the Titanfall 2 mobility aspects.

I might check this out, except that playing it with a controller seems like it might be kinda difficult.

That last game was giving me some real Magic Pengel vibes, been a while since I thought about that game. I think my favorite of these was the first game they played.

I recommend folks check out the solitaire games from Grey Alien Games, Vinny mentioned Regency Solitaire, but I particularly like Shadowhand myself. It has a lot of cool RPG trappings including equipping gear and spells, and is fairly long and can actually get difficult at times (mainly with some of the 1 v. 1 duels). They have a newer game out called Ancient Enemy, but I have not checked it out myself as of yet.

I was trying to put into words what felt off about the performance, but I think you hit on it with the presenter vs. actor distinction.

Glad to finally understand what the actual gameplay of this entails. Everywhere I looked, I saw it just described as a gacha game, which I understand to be a monetization system and not a genre of game, but maybe that’s just video games in 2020, I dunno.

@slag: Ha, thanks. 2020 has certainly been a year conducive to hunkering down in my apartment and playing a lot of games and ignoring the outside world.

Bazooka is a very good dog name, has a real Missile (the best video game dog) energy to it.

This really takes me back to those pearl-clutching news reports about Mass Effect being on the “sexbox” and ruining the pure hearts of children.

It's wild to me that so many of these indie horror games have terrible (or no) instruction on what the heck you are supposed to be doing and also terrible flashlight implementations. Feels like they think being obtuse is a good substitution for being actually scary.
