If G4 is no longer a gaming/geek channel, why doesn't another one exist?

Speaking of TechTV, other than The Screensavers and the old Extended Play, I miss the Biography-style show on game developers (I remember they had episodes on Lucasarts and Gabe Newell/Valve), and Eye Drops. Eye Drops is what confirmed my decision to become an animator.

As a self-contained clip, I found it incredibly amusing: in the same way that japanese game shows are funny. However, trying to make an entire TV program out of that is just a waste of time.

Oh god.

If I ever meet Sessler, I'm buying him a few shots of vodka (pure, no bullshit) to wash down the pain, because goddamnit he deserves it.

Why does the channel still exist?  I mean it's supposed to be a channel about video games right?  

I just watched Feedback and listen to the Soapbox, they can be good when they want to be (Their E3 coverage outside of the whole Munn/Jaffe thing has been consistently good since the start). and AOTS can be fun when they have good segments on the loop

They are trying to be a much shittier version of spike tv and spike tv is already pretty shitty.

I still can't believe that  someone as classy as sessler is a part of the same network that features stuff like this. I will admit it was worth a chuckle the first time they did it as a one off joke, but to make it a recurring show...

Never found the appeal of G4. Part of me thinks it perpetuates negative stereotypes about gamers.

It's no worse than some of the stuff that used to appear on NBC's fear factor.  People upchucked on that show all the time, too.  If anything, it just proves how unoriginal G4 is with its programming.  "Fear Factor was cool 10 years ago...let's do some of that."  They've also done Discovery Channel rip offs of Mythbusters and Futureweapons.    

I always feel bad about how terrible G4 is because I really like Sessler.  The dude is a great personality and is about the only person in-tune with reality there.  I hope somehow he finds a better gig.  I'm curious how much they're paying to hold on to him.

Slightly off-topic, but does US' MTV have game one? It's a really good weekly show that we have. They were just nominated for our most prestigious (german) media award.

And that explains why i never visit or watch anything related to G4.

Ya know, we're living in the golden age of television. We have high quality shows like Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Walking Dead, 30 Rock, and The Office just to name a few. And yet, we are also in an age of the absolute worst diarrhea of the eyeballs can somehow find a network to produce MULTIPLE seasons of garbage that people will watch.

i saw kevin pereira on the joe rogan podcast, and he was surprisingly cool. dunno know why he's still on g4.

Just imagine going onto Giant Bomb and watching Sessler chat it up with the crew and have his own weekly soapbox...

Yeah this is just one of the reasons that DIRECTV removed G4 from it's service.

Hot, watched it a few times.

Personally I think Adam Sessler only stays due to the legacy he has had there. He is the only person still on that network from the ZDTV days (what TechTV was originally call when Ziff-Davis owned it). He is also arguably the only person who actually should be on a gamer based network that they have.

How is this a programme that people can turn on their televisions to see?

First off, I got off to this.  Second off, and looking at it with a clear head, why are you watching G4?

We have all seen this coming countless times, as DirecTV dropped them, olivia munn left, the original staff from both channels aka TechTV and G4TV are gone. and the channel has lost its identity completely... I only ever watch xplay when i do check out that channel. i miss the old staff. G4rewind had a stream up of Oldskool g4 style stuff. it was interesting to watch. i honestly don't even know why the channel is in existence anymore...

I think that the Canadian version of G4 (G4Tech TV), is very different. There is AOTS and X play but it is much more centered on tech shows, game shows and general nerd culture shows. The American version seems to try to copy Spike TV a little too much and thats where this kind of stuff falls into place...
