I hope people will remember Game Room  in a good light for the gamerscore  what it was meant to have, not quite the gamerscore it turned out to have.

As the heat death of Game Room looms ever larger, the thing I'll miss the most is Jeff being compelled to waste time and money on garbage. There has to be something else we can have him trudge through on a weekly basis. But what?

Xbox Indy games? PS3 Import Store titles?

I'm going to miss the Game Room updates. It's like Game Center CX, only filled with misery.

My thoughts pretty much echo a common opinion. I was really into it for a while but pretty quickly fell out of it.

That said I haven't seen the Showcase version, but I'd be willing to give it a shot... if it can be acquired outside of Soviet Cannuckistan.

A pinball... tournament? No fucking way such a thing can be real.  And you're right- StarCraft is equally dull and luck dependant. "
Last world championship paid out $30,000.

The majority of games depend on an element of randomness. Pinball has as much luck as any given RPG. Pinball has as much luck as billiards. You can't always know with absolute certainty where the ball will richochette, but you do have the skill to shoot a ball where you want. It takes another set of skills to recover when things do not go exactly how you planned. No different then any other game.

You know that you don't "get" pinball. I actually couldn't care less whether you like pinball or not. I'm just clarifying reality, you're welcome to interpret it however you want.

It's judge dredd pinball machine. "

Very cool. That game is a classic. Sorry to hear that it's falling apart. What seems to be the problem with it?

I posted this once before, but might as well post it again...
The top 3 most unnecessarily homoerotic artwork.

Here's another video I just got around to uploading now (I seriously have a shitload of videos and pictures from the last world championship). More artistic than the Bill Paxton Pinball although I think Ben's would probably be more fun to play, also a greater technical achievement since this is essentially a reskin of an older table. Beautiful none the less. Last time I checked they were selling 'prints' of the backglass (which is to say, silkscreen on glass) for $300. Gorgeous as art it was okay as a game. Kinda slow.

" I can't see the appeal of pinball, at all. I don't see the point and it just seems dependant on luck.

Sonic Spinball however, is awesome. "

Don't make me paraphrase Matt Damon from Rounders. That's a shitty thing to do to a person. People shouldn't have to quote fucking Matt Damon.

That said, if it was all luck you wouldn't see the same handful of people each year finishing in the top tiers in tournaments. The guy who is the reigning world champion just won for the third year in a row. There's as much luck in pinball as there is in Starcraft II.

As far as REAL pinball, wow, i haven't played a real machine in years..only Pinball machines i've seen were for sale...i'll go wherever they're selling Pinball machines and dream a little.
Unofficial pinball group formed.

The Bill Paxton Pinball is absolutely awesome. The level of craftsmanship borders on fetishsim.

The guys who can't find machines, where are you located? I recognize I'm spoiled, there's two tables within a 5 minute drive of my house and a dozen about 20 minutes away.

If you're really really stuck without a physical table anywhere there are some decent options. 3D Pinball that shipped with Windows XP is surprisingly good. You can actually practice dead passes and shot placement. Although my favorite video pinball is Digital Pinball: Necronomicon for the Sega Saturn. It'll cost $25 from any import shop worth a damn, although you'll need a 3-in-1 RAM cart or Japanese Saturn to play. Point is

I've heard tell that the gumball causes a lot of problems. Have you found it to be that?

Thats always been a table I've wanted to buy, but like cide said, I know upkeep is an issue and I've heard Twilight Zone even more so.

I was just curious what kind of intersection there was between giant bomb members and pinball players. To this day I've never found a good pinball forum. I play semi-regularly, in so much as I go out to in search of pinball once a month, and if I ever see a machine I make the time to squeeze in a game. I suck because I have zero body english skills.

Probably my all time favorite machine is Safecracker, but lately I've been playing a lot of Twilight Zone and Medieval Madness.

Yeah. It try not to complain too much (I fail at trying), but this one was just so poorly designed. Unnecessarily generic hints.  Name 5 items?  Battles of attrition are rarely fun.
Some of the hints were simply incorrect: I named 15 different companions only to have the last character not even be a companion. That's just shoddy work. Finally, going into non-canon titles is just annoying.

If you know nothing about Fallout, it's too hard. If you know a lot about Fallout, it's too irritating.

I've tried drawing a Mean Gene sprite three times now and every damn time it looks like Mario in a tuxedo. I've done big nose, small nose and inbetween - doesn't matter.
