Metal Gear Scanlon was my first exposure to the english versions of the games and it is amazing just how poorly localized they are. Most of what people critiqued as bad writing is simply the translator not adapting japanese writing conventions into english ones. It's so amazingly terrible. I do have to say minus Akio Otsuka's Snake, the english cast is much better than the Japanese one.
