This game looks great. It's dissappointing when you hear people who have never really tried VR or tried VR in a 3rd person action game that "VR doesn't make sense for this style of game".

Chronos and Edge of Nowhere (Oculus) are fantastic experiences. They aren't as fleshed out as the AAA games on consoles, but they really showed the promise of incorporating VR into that style. Edge of Nowhere specifically showed me how awesome an Uncharted or Tomb Raider game could be in VR. It adds a depth and scale to the enviroment that you just don't see in the regular titles.

Always tough to watch a segment when they don't know the controls, but I was at least glad they didn't seem to write it off completely based on some of their frustrations. I would love to hear Jeff thinks about Lone Echo / Echo Arena if he decides to spend some more time with it.

Echo Arena is much faster paced than he made it look. Once you learn the movement getting to the tubes and waiting for the catapault takes about 5 seconds. The catapults can be a little finicky, but you need to fling yourself while it is launching you. There is no need to wait until it's at the end of the tube because you keep the same momentum once you push off. You just need to be sure not to hit the tube walls.

Another solid move is to grab on to other players and flinging yourself off them to get an extra boost of speed. If punch an enemy player while hitching a ride you will lose the ability to get that extra boost of speed since they lost all their momentum. So if you are trying to cover large distances it's best to just use them (or teammates) to fling yourself across the map, but watch your back because people are trying to do the same to you.

Oculus announced 2 different headsets Oculus Go (Release 2018) and Santa Cruz Prototype 2 (Dev kits within a year - I hope for a late 2018 release.)

OculusGo is a 3 degrees of freedom (rotation movement only - ex: GearVR/DayDream). It is great for entertainment and games where you won't be moving your body. $200 is a great price because the other headsets require $600+ phones

Santa Cruz Prototype 2 is a 6 degrees of freedom (Rotation and Translation - ex: Rift/Vive/etc) standalone mobile headset with inside-out tracking and motion controllers. This is probably the headset I would recommend for people who want VR, but don't have a PC. You are essentially getting the PC VR experience, but with mobile quality games.

Ha that customer support line was great. Also it cracked me up to hear Dan say brings me back to the payphone at the swimming pool because I remember doing the same thing as a kid.

Good old raid days.

I remember in High School staying up all night with my guild trying to beat Raptor boss in Zul Gurub in Wow.

I think we finally called it at like 7:30 am and I had to go to work at 8:30. Luckily it was a pretty lax retail job with only like 5 people and I ended up falling asleep in the break room.

I am still internet friends with 1 person I used to play WoW with that I have never met in real life.

At $399 if you had a PC I feel that VR is pretty easy to recommend.

There is a good amount of fun content out there and there are good games coming this year on the horizon. If you decide to get the headset, make sure to check out Echo Arena it is fantastic.

I agree with Dan that pickles sucks, but I don't freak out as much as he does.

Also Picky Spears was the best Spice Girl.

@sweetz:It's highly unlikely that FB is done with VR.

Zuckerberg seems to fully believe in VR/AR and thinks "mainstream" VR/AR is like 10 years out.

To The Top looks neat. I think the dev was in the Giant Bomb Facebook group talking about it. He said it was coming to Oculus store a week after Steam, but I don't think it happened yet.

Echo Arena however is the stand out game, but it will be interesting to see them try to play in that relatively small space. I have been punching the crap out of my walls.

@mostlysquares: They also came out and said they won't be showcasing VR at E3 this year.

Also another thing they missed is that Bethesda said it will be showing off Fallout VR.
