That's an awesome article, but it pains me that I had to be reminded of my failure to man-hug Leonardo Da Vinci.  I'm so stupid, stupid, STUPID.

The most I ever got into Fight Night was number 3 back in 2006, and I only played roughly 20% of the career mode.  I always really want to get into these games because they seem so deep, but once it comes down to playing I end up dragging my heels.

I think when kids were playing FF6 for hours back in the 90's and dreamed about gaming being an accepted part of popular culture they were confused about how it was going to happen.  PEOPLE are not going to change and start liking gaming.  It's simply not going to happen.  The majority of people do not want, and will never want to sit down for hours all the time and play games rather than go out and socialize.  It's not how the average human is hardwired.  For gaming to be a part of popular culture, parts of GAMING will have always had to change to appeal to people who aren't gamers.  As gaming gets bigger it will have several parts, just like movie culture these days.  It will have pieces that suit those that don't frequent message boards, it will have pieces for the indie crowd, and it will have pieces for people who see gaming as a main part of their identity.

Sorry if anyone didn't see this coming, but people weren't all going to become gamers.  Some games were simply going to start catering to everyone else.

Was it actually Jaffe?  Either way, he made a good point, and if I knew what the major shift should be I would probably not be sitting in front of my laptop right now at home.

I can understand frustration, but the Better Business Bureau?  That's a case of people letting their heads get away from them.

I think it's standard Team Deathmatch, but they're going to release a DLC with some new modes. "

Is Jeff Bridges in game?  Modes?

@KaosAngel:
I just referenced the last post you put to respond to your general feeling on the subject.

Using the standpoint that the Swastika's mirror image doesn't technically infer Nazism is like calling people "gay" and saying that technically it could mean that they're happy.  Culture changes the meanings of things over time, and just as "gay" hasn't really meant anything good for several decades, neither has the swastika or anything close to it.  It doesn't hold up under most circumstances except for on ancient asian sculpture and art, and it clearly doesn't hold up on Xbox Live.

The U.S. is one of the most diverse countries in the world covering an extreme range of climates, lifestyles, and beliefs.  I think there is no such thing as a single "American", much like Canada where I come from.

The joke was that they weren't allowed to show coverage yet right?  At one point were they supposed to be able to and didn't have time to fill in that slot, so they showed it as a joke anyway?

Fucking hell that's what I thought of too. Something has gone horribly wrong somewhere along the line.  Also, are video-game consoles really adult-oriented systems? Most of the games we play on them are incredibly juvenile in tone, and simplistic in nature, and while that's not to say that it's not okay to enjoy them (I certainly do), I would disagree if you said that they represented a concerted effort to create adult-oriented content. "

Agreed, I don't think violence equates adult content.  I would counter with the term "adolescent oriented", in reference to the large amount of simplistic stories, violence and sexed up women.  I love games, but I don't pretend that most are shooting for people over 20.
