OH SHIT YES

I've been wanting them to play this game ever since the Random PC Game days. I played wayyy more of this game than I probably should have back in the 90s. Thank you, Papa FMVinny! Can't wait to hit play on sucker.

A quick prediction before I start, though: There will be amused confusion among the crew at some point.

EDIT: Holy shit, here's an old blog post of mine I'd completely forgotten about, that talks about Noctropolis and mentions Psychic Detective in the same breath.

I'm pretty sure all those laugh, scream and scratching samples in the music were the standard ones built into the keyboards we had in high school. Obviously whoever did the music for this version of Double Dragon had just bought their synth and was all YO THESE NOISES ARE SO COOL WE CAN'T NOT USE THEM

That music from the second level pops up on Salty Bet, though! :D

Game jam idea: Make a game based on any of the song titles from the Skitchin' OST.

Skitchin' was the stuff of legend among my group of friends in 1994, if only purely for the fact that it had a tune called "Spicy Placenta". We all thought that was hilarious and just couldn't get over (a) those two words being together, or (b) that it was a song title, let alone that it was (c) allowed in a video game.

And yeah, the Mega Drive / Genesis has so many Amiga ports.

I'm currently at the Shadow boss battle, and hooboy is that where the difficulty has ramped up for me. Dude's a fucker as is, but there's also a management aspect to the fight, with other enemies dropping in at times to make life harder.

I used to always use custom soundtracks on Xbox for games that used it. My then-girlfriend-now-wife and I would play a bunch of the original DOA Beach Volleyball against each other to playlists I'd made. It was a great time to be alive.

I was prepared to get all mad at Dan after reading the comments. Then he provided a in-game (fan)fiction for all his pre-battle meddling it and I laughed and figured I was fine with it.

It was called Everybody's Golf in Australia too, because PAL territories (nearly) always got the cool Japanese side of things back in the day. Y'know, like how we got the Famicom styling for our SNES, and that's carried over into our SNES mini as well. *happy sigh*

@retrometal: The C64 demo scene is still very much alive and finding crazy ways to squeeze new effects and tech onto the machine. You should check some of that stuff out if you haven't already.

And thanks for reading! :)
