Claude's Candy Corner: Video Game Update

I've got a few games on my plate. Here they are and some thoughts about them.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Xbox 360

I've slowed down after hitting the 125 hour mark with my level 45 Nord. I'll get back into it as soon as I finish some other games. I'm debating how I want to play more of the game. My main character finished the main quest and the College of Winterhold. But I did do a lot of smaller quests and general exploring. I haven't touched The Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild or the Civil War Quests. I've barely touched the Companions. This leaves me with a lot of options. I could create a new character to tackle these other quests since some of them don't match the style of my first character. I like having options, so I should be up for the challenge. Either way, Skyrim is still a great game in my book. A worthy purchase indeed.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: Wii

I've put 50 hours into this thing and still feel like I have a ways to go. Skyward Sword is easily the best Motion Plus game I've ever played. You can see all the tricks that were fun in Wii Sports Resort translated so well into this package. I did get a little fatigued, not with the motion controls, but with the game. Some users and reviewers complained about the amount of padding that has been incorporated into this game, and I have to agree to a certain degree. I will eventually finish Skyward Sword as I did the same thing when I played Twilight Princess, took a month off and finished it with a vengeance.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution: Xbox 360

Love, love, love this game, can't stand the boss fights. It hits the atmosphere of the original Deus Ex very well. The stealth is fun and finding different avenues to complete missions never gets old. I'm close to finishing this game, but I made a bad choice and must fight a boss without any of my augmentations. Sucks to be me when you suck at boss fights. Fight...die, die, die, die, die, die... fuck it. I'll put it down for a while and come back to it one day.

Just bought

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City: Xbox 360

I had my issues with GTA IV, but I loved the city and always kicked myself in the butt for not playing the two wonderfully reviewed and commonly loved DLC packs. I finally bought the stand alone package. So, The Lost & Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, here I come. I'm really looking forward to going back to Liberty City. I haven't been there in almost 4 years. Damn, time flies when you're playing video games.

Fishing Resort: Wii

For some reason, I found myself looking up fishing games. Fishing Resort was released in November and a few reviews caught my eye. The cool thing about this game is that it's made by this company ( Prope Ltd.) founded by this guy ( Yuji Naka) the former head of Sonic Team. Fishing Resort is an open world fishing game with RPG elements. Fuck yeah, fishing, let's do this. I don't mind slow paced games. Hell, I absolutely adored Endless Ocean: Blue World and it doesn't get much slower than that.

Odds and ends:

I bought a wired Xbox 360 controller. My other controller was starting to act up, so I thought it was time. Plus, a wired controller can also be used with my PC.

Honorable Mention of games still playing on a regular basis.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters: Xbox 360  - FORE!!!
Madden 10: Xbox 360 - In the mood for some American Football, cheap game as I just bought it.
MX vs ATV: Reflex: Xbox 360 - Slinging mud with the best of them.

Thanks for reading.
