15 games that will soon be mine 2010 remix: part 2: even partier.

And now... part 2.

10. NBA Jam

Jam on, NBA Jam.
Jam on, NBA Jam.
EA is doing gamers a great disservice not by making this game multiplatfrom, but basically giving 360 and PS3 owners a partially gimped version and Wii owners a more superior version with no online. I mean, EA couldn't have fucked this up even more, but you know what? This looks like the NBA Jam of my youth. I will gladly take whatever they've shown so far.

I finally mentioned NBA Jam without throwing in several ridiculous quotes. I deserve some credit for keeping it classy.

9. de Blob: The Underground

I need media coverage! Pay attention to me!
I need media coverage! Pay attention to me!
If there's one game that gets zero coverage for whatever reason and deserves some recognition, this is the game. The original de Blob was one of the best examples of a quality 3rd party game based on a new IP that appealed to gamers of all ages and denominations... on the Wiii of all places. And the good news for non-Wii owners is that de Blob is going multiplat. It's going to pull a Mario and add some 2D platforming in there, but I would be happy with just more of the last game with another kickass soundtrack. Also, button press to jump... my wrist rejoices!

8. Disney Epic Mickey

Not actual gameplay footage.
Not actual gameplay footage.
Disney Epic Mickey could be the biggest game in Wii history not carrying the Nintendo name. Even though Mario may have unseated Mickey Mouse as the children's mascot of choice, Mickey still holds a lot of clout. Also, Warren Spector holds a lot of clout. Paint and thinner gameplay is the new moral choice!

7. Brink

Yo that building looks like a giant dick.
Yo that building looks like a giant dick.
I have a habit of getting excited for new IPs of the more core variety. Last year I was giddy for Borderlands, next year will be Brink's turn. I really believe Brink could be a surprise hit with its innovative take on the shooter genre... even though it claims to blend several genres. Whatever, it looks fun, the SMART system sounds like an interesting concept, and the customization will force me to spend hours on creating the ugliest human specimen known to man.

6. Kirby's Epic Yarn

Epic is the new epic.
Epic is the new epic.
Another Nintendo platformer? If you include Super Meat Boy I covered on Friday, that makes 4 Wii platformers on my wishlist. I admit that my exposure to Kirby is pretty limited, but damn it looks like yarn. Everybody is raving over the look and it's a damn sweet look, but Kirby rarely disappoints when it comes to gameplay and design. Kirby might look like a work of art, but the gameplay should be just as crafty.

Top 5 tomorrow, duders. Expect another Wii platformer to make the list. There sure is a TON of great 2D platforming on the Wii this year.

I totally agree with Epic Mickey and Kirby's Epic Yarn. Those games look delicious. Too bad I don't own a Wii.

I'm calling it, Duke Nukem Forever top spot.

Count me in. Every one of those games, well, except Brink, interest me.
