Bring them... part 3.

To quote Chris Matthews yesterday, "Oh God."

18. Mortal Kombat II

Midway might be a bankrupt shell of its former awesome self, but we can still remember the good times with this bloody classic.  The original was not half bad, but MKII improved just about everything... from the game's tempo and smoothness to the addition of several new characters.

Michael Jackson's Babydropper, the less popular sequel to Moonwalker.

17. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

Michael Jackson's biggest contribution to the gaming world... holy shit, dude.  Moonwalker came out in that in-between time where we were still befuddled about his recent whiteness and shrinking nose, but were still in the dark about his pedophilia.  And I gotta say, what better way to attract little children with a video game with monkeys, robots, dancing, and crotch-grabbing.  This game ain't happening today, but if it does, I just hope there's no Hot Coffee moment added on.

16. Super Mario Kart

I have not been that crazy for Mario Kart recently... and by recently I mean every Mario Kart since Mario Kart 64.  That doesn't mean I hate Super Mario Kart... in fact, I think it's awesome on every level.  Battle Mode was my heroin for many, many months and the races were my cocaine.  Man, I'm about to relapse.

15. Blast Corps

And I add to the "Rare game never coming to the Wii because of Microsoft" collection with the most underappreciated Rare gem of the Nintendo 64 era.  Everyone clamors about Goldeneye and Banjo, but Blast Corps might have been the most fun of the bunch.  The goal is to just demolish everything in front of a vehicle (without any brakes apparently) that's carrying nuclear bombs.  It's a race against time so don't fuck up or you'll create another Chernobyl.  Since the VC ain't happening, I would like to see XBLA give it a good home.

Rare did a fine job subtlely ripping off TMNT.

14. Battletoads

Feel free to call your local Gamestop for more information about yet another Rare masterpiece.  I never played it, but it's got a reputation for being very, very, very, very hard.  Very.  And not the "hard because the controls suck" kind of hard, but the "I can do this, but I'm just not good enough" kinda hard.  I would love to see Battletoads make a comeback since it's now cool to revive old franchises.

13. Super Smash Bros.

Nintendo created such a huge mascot userbase that they created a new franchises based on several older franchises.  Genius move, Nintendo!  The first Smash Bros. was pretty good even though future iterations blow it out of the water... nothing against the first one, though.  It had to start somewhere.  I had totally expected this to be out before Brawl was unleashed, but that never happened.

Getting closer to #1.  Stay tuned.

Oh gosh, Battle Toads... Aaaghh! That was so difficult and it wasn't just because I was young, I would fail at it today too. :S

I have Mortal Kombat II on the PSN and I hope if it goes to the Virtual Console that it's done in a better fashion. The online is usually laggy. Although I haven't played it lately, so I don't know if it's gotten any better.
