I think Activision sees the writing on the wall.

So Activision now believes less is more?
If you clicked the link, you'd see that there will be fewer Hero games this year. After last year's glut of mediocre releases like Band Hero and Van Hagar Hero, Activision has decided to keep the music games to a bare minimum. One Guitar Hero game, one DJ Hero sequel. Nothing band-specific, no portable handjobs, no greatest hits collections.
I think they're onto something.
Last year Activision released a total of 7 Hero games across almost every platform known to man, but last year marked the end of the PS2 support. So if you haven't upgraded and want even more Guitar Hero, you best go and buy a current console.
I applaud Activision's willingness to realize that saturating the market will just inevitably destroy it... although I think they needed to learn that lesson in 2008. But this means nothing to me because my rules on peripherals are very strict. If the peripheral is bigger than the console, than no thank you. I might break that rule someday if I splurge on a Balance Board, though. And I do like Guitar Hero, I really do. The problem is it's a big investment, especially since they expanded to drums, turntables, tubas, and theremins.
